We Have launched a Go Fund Me as requested by many..
For nearly four years, The Six Six at 170 East Road has been more than just a bar or music venue.
It became a home for live music, creativity, chaos, friendship and community. A place where thousands of people discovered new bands, made memories, met lifelong friends and found somewhere they belonged.
What started as a tiny independent venue in Cambridge grew into something far bigger than we ever imagined.
Over 1,000 bands booked.
Over 50,000 tickets sold.
Hundreds of thousands of drinks poured.
Millions generated back into the UK economy through live events, hospitality and grassroots culture.
And we did it independently.
But the reality facing grassroots venues in the UK has become brutal.
Relentless increases in operational costs, licensing pressures, supplier costs, utilities, insurance, rates, legal obligations and industrywide financial strain have made survival harder than ever not just for us, but for independent venues across the country.
We have made the difficult decision to begin closing this chapter of The Six Six as we know it.
This fundraiser is not about begging for sympathy.
It is about giving us the chance to exit properly, responsibly and with dignity while buying a little more time to continue doing what we love for as long as possible.
Funds raised will help towards:
Existing business debt accumulated while keeping the venue alive
Legal and professional fees involved in winding things down correctly
Staff and operational costs during the final chapter
Keeping events, gigs and community nights running for as long as possible
Protecting future creative projects connected to The Six Six brand and team
If this venue ever meant something to you if you ever saw a band here, had a life changing night out, made friends here, played this stage, found confidence here or simply believed independent venues matter this is your chance to help us close this chapter the right way.
No pity.
No violins.
Just one final push from the community that built this place with us.
Whatever happens next, we will always be proud of what was created inside these four walls.
And this is not the end of the people behind it.
Thank you for every ticket bought, every pint ordered, every band supported and every night you gave this venue life.
