A quick heads-up for fellow celebrants and event professionals
I was recently contacted with what seemed like a genuine enquiry for a wedding celebration ceremony. Sadly, it turned out to be a scamânot one I fell for, but it was carefully worded, emotionally persuasive, and designed to extract personal details and payment under false pretences.
If you're approached with a lead that feels âoff,â trust your instincts.
Common red flags include:
- Requests for urgent bookings with minimal details
- Unusual payment methods or pressure to send money
- Poor grammar or inconsistent information
- Reluctance to speak by phone or video, unusual links for video calls
