We ended half term with some halloween fun last night 🎃 👻 🐈‍⬛
The children were given a blank piece of sandpaper, some oil pastels and briefed to just get creative! We then flipped them over onto paper and applied heat using the iron, which resulted in a really effective textured print. It was interesting to note which colours transferred well and a great experiment to see if the pressure we applied when colouring affected the results.

Everyone was excited to see their print revealed and it was great to try a new material to create on! There’s a few blunt pencils to sharpen this morning 🤪

Well done guys, have a fab half term! 🎃

This week at Primart we looked at the basics of landscapes and how you need a foreground, midground and background.

The children chose up to 7 pieces of coloured card to give more depth to their 3D design and a strong sense of perspective. As a starting point they thought about what they wanted in the foreground and then continued to add each layer working towards the background.

The kids got so creative with this one and I’m sure they’ll be recreating these again at home!
Once again I was so impressed with the outcome… Well done Primarters! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wow!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I’m always blown away by the creativity of the kids at Primart and this latest project was no exception!

For recycled art week we turned some old tins into some colourful planters. We looked at the wonderful work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo as our starting point. In her self portraits she would always paint her distinguished unibrow, wear lots of jewellery and often used flowers and symbols for detail.

The results were colourful and inspiring and I think everyone should be very proud of their work! It is quite tricky painting a curved surface and I think they all did an outstanding job… Well done guys! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We love getting the colour cards out at Primart… The hardest part is choosing which one to use for inspiration!
The children started by finding the best colour match to the swatch with coloured pencils. Using shape as a starting point they applied each colour in turn to fill the paper. Once finished, they cut their design into squares before arranging them onto a grid to create their abstract art.
Super effective and a great exploration of colour and shape! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

What better way to celebrate international ‘Dot Day’ than with the wonderfully talented, visually impaired artist, Clarke Reynolds. He describes his vision as looking underwater through a thousand dots.

The day itself encourages people of all ages to express their creativity, have courage, make their mark and collaborate. Clarke Reynolds does this through his work bringing together sighted and visually impaired people allowing them to enjoy the same piece of art through either touch or sight.

We took our inspiration from his ‘Alphabet’ exhibition. The children all started by creating their own colour coded alphabet using Braille style dots. They then thought of a phrase or something personal to them before spelling it out on graph paper. Using a series of white raised self adhesive dots, the artwork could be read by the visually impaired. Whereas sighted people could decode using colour.

The kids were really excited to take their artwork home to ask someone to decode it. If you’ve got time, grab a cuppa and see if you can decode a few too!

Just make a mark and see where it takes you….

Last week was our first session back after the summer hols and we were all buzzing to get creative again!

It’s amazing what they all achieved with just a few lasagne sheets and some sticky back plastic!
They really enjoyed snapping their painted sheets to assemble their mosaics and the results were really striking!

Great first week back Primarters! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
