In my experience, wedding celebrants are a pretty well presented bunch but that doesn’t stop most of us from writing our wedding scripts in our pyjamas and doing the odd Zoom call in our trackies.

However, one of my FAVOURITE parts of prepping for a wedding is getting dolled up and reminding myself I can still look fabulous. Because the better I feel in myself, the more brilliant your wedding ceremony is going to be.

And by the way, and did you know that you designed the PERFECT dress for wedding celebrants? Look at those love hearts sparkle!

Last weekend I had the absolute honour of marrying a gorgeous couple called Sarah and Graydon.

A bright and sunny day at Topsham Brewery in Exeter made for the most beautiful day filled with smiling humans, party-fuelled energy and love from all angles.

I adored telling Sarah & Graydon’s love story during their bespoke ceremony and making sure they got the fun, joyful and humorous experience they wanted. I came away on such a high so I can’t imagine how they felt.

Tomorrow is a VERY big day for Sarah Caine & Graydon Rigby and I couldn’t be more excited for them.

The day before a wedding is SUCH an exciting part of being a celebrant - the months of hard work are all coming to fruition and even if you’re not quite in the wedding venue yet, you can feel some sort of special magic in the air.

Before we dive in, I want to take a second to wish Sarah & Graydon the most beautiful wedding day of their dreams and remind them to keep stopping to take a breath, look around, and really feel the love that will be in the room for them.

It’s sometimes a nail-biting moment when I send the first draft of a ceremony script to a couple. Have I really understood who they are? Have we had enough connective chats? Have they felt comfortable enough to be themselves with me? Have I, essentially, got it?

Of course, there’s always time for edits and adjustments - that’s just part of the process - but sending the first draft is a special moment. It’s nerve-wracking but also very exciting as I wonder, ‘What will their response be?’

I usually share my scripts on Google Docs, which means we can all pitch in and send each other comments. When this comment popped up for after a particular couple’s first reading, it gave me that wonderfully tingly celebrant feeling. I’m on the right track. We all ‘get’ each other. It’s going to be GORGEOUS.

This wedding is towards the end of June and I absolutely cannot wait for it. Hopefully photos will follow but in the meantime, if you’re looking for someone to get to know the REAL you and write a wedding script that will reflect your absolute awesomeness as a couple, then you know what to do. 😉😘

Oh how I love a wedding venue visit!

This week I was lucky enough to visit the function rooms of Topsham Brewery where I’ll be marrying the brilliant Sarah and Graydon in a few weeks time.

I’ve known Sarah since our school and college days where we were addicted to romantic literature and love poems. And here we are, decades later, planning her wedding ceremony and gasping at the absolute perfection of her chosen venue.

💍💖🍻💍💖🍻

These venue visits are so important to me as a celebrant because they help me feel and visualise the ceremony as well as watch couples come alive for all the reasons they chose it. It’s like magic in action and gives me the fullest confidence that the ceremony will be everything they dreamed of.

When you’re trying to choose a celebrant for your wedding, it can be so hard to tell anything about a person simply by their website and a couple of recommendations. That’s why I put together this post of things I’d love you to know about me, before reaching out and potentially booking me for your wedding.

Obviously there’s a ton more I could have shared like my tendency to hug trees, my love of live music and the fact that I’d choose a sea-salt chocolate bar over a Dairy Milk. But at least this gives you a head start and gives you a feel for what I’m all about.

To me, each of the couples I work with are special for an entire team of different reasons - but what they do have in common is that they deserve a ceremony that truly reflects their own personalities, values and love story.

That’s why I work really hard on creating a script that befits them. A script that harnesses all their joy, all their dreams and all their love so that family and friends feel it down to their bones. Getting to know each couple properly so that my creative writing writing skills can do their thing, is an absolute joy and I feel honoured every single time.

Eid Mubarak to all of my Muslim followers, friends and family! It’s such a special celebration as we hit the end of Ramadan and I’m so honoured I get to celebrate with my husband and kids.

Being in a multicultural relationship certainly has its challenges but it has so many joys too. I get really excited when a multicultural couple ask me to marry them because it’s an opportunity to create a wedding ceremony that fully honours them and their individual values.

Wedding fairs are such a great way for couples to meet local wedding vendors, find out about their services or products AND (most of all) get to know someone’s vibes.

What do I mean by vibes? I guess I mean all that unspoken stuff that we all pick up on when we meet someone new. Their approach, their style, their values and their manner. Do they align with you, do they fit your vision and will they stop at nothing to listen deeply, respond sensitively and make the whole process fun?

💍💖✨💍💖✨

I guess you could apply that across all wedding services but (obviously😉) I’m thinking specifically of celebrants. If you’re putting your ceremony - the absolute beating heart of your wedding day - into someone else’s hands, you need to know it’s safe.

So, to avoid overwhelm at wedding fairs, think of it as a bit of a social. Yes, you need to pick up leaflets and find out websites etc, but the most important thing is to CHAT, and to follow your beautiful, love-filled hearts.
