Lola’s Theme — The Shapeshifters

One of those records where the first few seconds are enough. You know exactly what’s coming… and suddenly it feels like summer again.

Released in 2004, Lola’s Theme is pure feel-good house music. Sunshine, packed dancefloors, holidays, good people and those nights you wish lasted just a little bit longer.

That’s what this 365 project is all about. 365 tracks from across the years that mean something to me — House, Trance, Techno, Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop, classics and plenty of curveballs along the way.

No rankings. No particular order. Just great music and the memories attached to it.

There are dance tracks… and then there are tracks that seem to belong to everyone.

Released in 2000, One More Time became one of those records that can instantly change the atmosphere on a dancefloor. That vocal. That groove. That feeling when everyone realises what’s coming. 🙌

More than 25 years later, it still works.

This is #51 of my 365 Days of Music — the tracks that have stayed with me, influenced me as a DJ, or simply remind me why I love music in the first place.

Hear the drummer (get wicked) - Chad Jackson

I heard a track this weekend and remembered this. I heard Let Me Clear My Throat, which immediately drew me to Chad Jackson.
I remember clubbing when this was huge, and the knee popping arm waving dance that went with it.
So many samples using this beat and sax. Good times.
