I’m Melissa - the maker and florist behind Lissie’s Makes, a small creative business based in Wrington, North Somerset. I create handmade gifts inspired by plants and flowers – from forever crochet plants to fresh and dried flower bouquets. If you’re after some botanical goodness, real or not, I’ve got you covered. I started my career as a primary school teacher, but after becoming chronically ill

, I had to step away from the classroom. When life slowed right down, I discovered just how much comfort and joy plants could bring. As I focused on recovery, Lissie’s Makes naturally grew from my lifelong love of making. Blending my passion for all things botanical and creative, I went on to complete my floristry qualification - and I’ve loved every minute of it. Through Lissie’s Makes, I hope to spread joy and bring a little calm into people’s lives – sharing the beauty and comfort that flowers and plants can bring into a home. Alongside my online store, I love heading out to markets across North Somerset and Bristol – it’s such a pleasure to meet you lovely customers in person. What's new on my stall ✨

I had such a lovely day at outside in the sunshine and chatting to lots of lovely people 😊

And getting to see you you think about some new products was a highlight too! From a beady cactus, to round, to mini dried flower posies and larger bouquets... The round flower cactus was particularly popular and will become a permanent part of my range!

I loved trading here for the first time last summer - there’s such a great mix of quality stalls, amazing food, and a genuinely lovely atmosphere.

This will be my first market of the year and I’m so excited to get back into it! 💚

Mother's Day 2026 💐🩷

What a privilege it was to make and deliver these lovely bouquets this weekend! Seeing the smiles they brought to so many wonderful mums and mother figures was so special to be a part of.

Welcome 2026, and thank you to 2025 for all the memories! 🤍

I hope everyone had a lovely break over Christmas! As much as I did, we've also been super busy renovating our new house - hence the late post - but I decided better late than never, so here we are...

Jan: worked on a new stall display, Valentines collection & made a great decision to get a label printer
Feb: winning and attending the SBS event , first stall of the year & working on product development
Mar: Mother's Day collection, pretty spring colours & a lovely trip to Alsace
Apr: selling my first flowers in person, warmer outdoor markets & getting products wholesale ready
May: a trip to Malvern Flower Show, re-doing all product photography & a holiday to Lake Como
Jun: winning an award at the YTM Regional Finals , creating website content & completing my Floristry Level 2 course
Jul: launching my own website, selling dried flower products for the first time & finally getting a trolley
Aug: helping to prepare for and set up weddings with the lovely , my first fresh flower delivery & attended the YTM National Finals
Sep: started my second Floristry course, more flower deliveries & one giant cactus
Oct: lots of ordering and deliveries, festive season prep & getting the keys to our first house
Nov: creating new dried flower products, office pop-ups & beginning of my festive market season
Dec: making and delivering wreaths, lots of markets & ending the year on such a high 🥹

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey so far! Your support, encouragement, and inspiration mean the world 💛

These are very much highlights from the years and I can't wait for more memories to come. Here’s to 2026 - another year of growth, creativity, and happiness. Let’s make it a good one! 🌸✨
