Recently, I had the honour of volunteering my face painting services at the Overgate Garden Party.
For those who don't know, this is an annual event, raising money for patients to have palliative care in the Overgate Hospice, which is supportive, dignified and as comfortable as possible. They also provide support for families grieving as well other amazing things which I don't know the full ins and outs of.
I have, however, seen their palliative care first hand.
I painted that day in honour of my Dad, Granddad and a lovely family friend.
They are trying to raise funds to create more space for patients in need of their care. And I know that when my time comes, I would want to be in their care, if needed.
I hadn't had the courage to even attend the Overgate Garden party in past years because it was held in the hospice gardens. However, this year it was held in the grounds of a nearby school, whilst they begin building on their grounds, so I feel like this was a good starting point for me. Perhaps I will be braver in following years.
I hope I am welcome to volunteer again for as many years as you will have me.
Thank you for everything you do. You're all truly amazing ❤️❤️❤️
