Our Granny and Grandad owned a newsagent/sweetie shop/toy shop (it was all of these things under one roof and was the most amazing place to hang out as a kid ) and granny sold her homemade tablet in the shop. She made a tray every single day and apparently people used to drive for miles out of their way to buy it 😍 whenever I would ask her questions about how she made it she talked a lot about how it “felt” when she beat it with the wooden spoon. The whole process sounded HARD which is probably why we put off making tablet at the bakery for years. A couple of years ago we decided we needed to embrace this absolute Scottish fave and figure how we were going to make it. I was determined that we were NOT doing it by hand - we have a mixer that cost us £7000 and by God we would be using it !! Fast forward two years and we’re churning out these giant trays of tablet with no hand beating necessary (sorry Granny 😳💖) If you’d like to try our tablet you can find it in any of our online hamper products including our Father’s Day hamper which is on sale NOW 👀
