Weather associated warning 🔥
The the weather getting hotter and more sunshine than normal for North Devon we'd lile to share a warning that is of great importance
With the power of the sun and heat generated that can potentially cause the following dangerous chain reactions
Do you have a glass vase, glass or plastic crystal ornaments near on a window sill at home ?
Any glass or plastic items as mentioned above act as crude lense and magnifying glasses where the sun can shine through your window and finds it focusing on a piece of crystal, glass vase, or glass beads and the pinpoint beam of the sun will melt anything in it's path and can start a fire leading to your home being at risk.
Also do not place mobile phones, electronic with batteries on or near a window as batteries will swell and explode with the potential to start a fire
If you have elderly or vulnerable neighbours it won't hurt to carry out regular welfare checks ti ensure they are not at risk from heat exposure or struggling to stay cool.
Do not walk your dogs in hot weather as you'll burn their paw pads and there's a high risk of heat related symptoms which can lead to organ failure and possibly death
