Many people have asked how they go about engaging me as a Celebrant at a loved one’s funeral service. The simple answer is… just ask for me.

When you meet with your chosen Funeral Directors, tell them you’d like to use me as your Celebrant.

A funeral – a Celebration of Life – for a loved one is the last mark of respect you can give, and I’ll work with you to build a service that honours and pays tribute to your loved one just as they deserve.

Because in the end, even as memories fade… even as time steals away the details… love remains.

A warm, comforting virtual hug to all the families that have lost someone this year from Francis Chappell yesterday evening at their Winter Memorial Service. To have your loved one's name read out and to light a candle for that person means so much to families. I was there not only to support Francis Chappell and my funeral families, but also to honour and remember those I've personally lost.

My name is Helen, and I’m an Independent Family Celebrant and a certified member of the Academy of Professional Celebrants.

Before my Celebrant journey began I spent over thirty years working as a senior PA in the charitable and corporate world. Armed with excellent time management and organisational skills but no inspiration, it was definitely time for a change.

After having witnessed the best – and also the worst – of the celebrant community in action over the past few years, I decided that I wanted to become one of the good ones; to help people at the most vulnerable moments of their lives and, in sorrow and in joy, hold their hand throughout their journey.

So what is a Celebrant? So many people aren’t sure. The party line is that a Celebrant is someone who ‘leads ceremonies or rituals, such as weddings, funerals, or naming ceremonies; typically trained professionals who specialise in creating meaningful and personalised ceremonies that reflect the beliefs and values of the people involved’.

But there’s so much more to being a Celebrant. A celebrant is someone who will guide you through your darkest days and through your most joyous. They will hold you with love and sincerity, compassion and warmth.

I have found my vocation, and I would love to help you to create the perfect ceremony that you will look back on with a loving thought, a gentle smile, and a beautiful memory. Let me hold your hand through every step of the way.
