And because there was just so much fun happening, here’s part two of our Wee Swap activities 💛

🧵 Re:Pear with Angeline Murphy, hosting drop-in stitching and reminding us that even the smallest of hands can repair

📖 PlayMakeBelieve, bringing stories to life and creating little pockets of imagination in the middle of the bustle.

🤝 Our community partner Barnardo's for showing up, supporting families and continuing the impact beyond the event itself.

🤱 All About Birth, offering sling demos and practical, supportive advice for parents.

🧘‍♀️ Parent & Baby Yoga with Jess, creating a gentle, connected space for parents and little ones.

♻ Sonas, for providing families in Lisburn with a sustainable shopping option and space to connect

Every single one of you helped make The Wee Swap feel like a community space.

We’re so grateful for the time, care and expertise you brought to the day 💛

One of the things that makes The Wee Swap more than 'just a swap' is the incredible activities happening alongside it 💛

A huge thank you to the brilliant people who brought creativity, movement and magic to the space:

✨ Dame Names-A-Lot bringing imagination and personality to the toy area all afternoon.

🧘‍♀️ Family Yoga with Anna filling the space with calm, connection and wiggly little stretches.

🎨 Just Peachy Face Painting, because every great family day needs a little sparkle.

🖌 Ro Owens with Big Art & Wee Crafts and giving children space to create freely.

✨Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for sharing information about their brilliant Cloth Nappy Scheme, supporting families to make more sustainable choices.

The Wee Swap simply would not feel the way it does without our volunteers.

They are genuinely the best people.

Busy people, a lot of them parents, giving up their weekends.
Showing up early.
Staying late.
Getting completely stuck in.
Bringing their kids along who are also the best little helpers.

They welcome families at the door.
They calm queues.
They reset rails.
They lift bags.
They answer the same question 47 times with a smile.
They fully believe in the ethos of sharing, reuse and community.

Even after the event, they’ve been messaging about helping Anna and I find homes for the leftover baby items.

Time and time again, your feedback mentions how lovely, welcoming, helpful and friendly the volunteers are and that’s not accidental. That’s all them.

From Anna and I, thank you. Truly.
The event feels the way it does because of you 💛

The carts.
The buggies.
The IKEA bags.
The very inventive transporting solutions we witnessed 👏♻️

One of our favourite sights from the weekend was watching families fill their arms (and wheels!) with preloved treasures heading off to their next chapter.

Thank you to every single person who showed up, swapped, rummaged, queued, shared and supported.

A huge thank you as well to our brilliant venue Bow Street Mall for giving us the use of such a fantastic space and to The National Lottery Awards for All for funding this event and making it possible.

Community in action looks a lot like buggies piled high with tiny clothes 💛

That's a wrap folks, thanks so much for joining us today!

So when’s the next Wee Swap?

The honest answer is…we don’t know just yet.

The Wee Swap is something Anna and I run on the side, whenever we have the capacity and funding in place to make it happen. Our Lisburn event marked the final event within our current funding cycle, so once we catch our breaths, we’ll get to work securing more support!

If you like The Wee Swap / have some suggestions for us, let us know via the link in our bio.

Hearing how much you all value the initiative is really helpful for when we make the case for more funding ☺️

Thank you again for being part of The Wee Swap and for helping give so many lovely children’s items a new home. It means a lot to see this little community continue to grow 💚

Lots of love,

Meg & Anna xx

A big Wee Swap thank you to our wonderful funder 💚

We’re incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting The Wee Swap. Their funding helped us deliver our East Belfast event last year and has made this weekend’s Lisburn event possible too.

Community initiatives like ours simply couldn’t happen without this kind of support.

Thank you for believing in what we’re building and for helping The Wee Swap grow from one community to the next 🌿

REMINDER: Tot’s Hour is happening this Sunday 💛

Once our main swap event wraps up, we’re opening the doors for Tot’s Hour - a free session where families are welcome to come along and take whatever they fancy, no registration needed

🗓 Sunday 15 Feb
⏰ 3.30–4.30pm
📍 Bow Street Mall, Lisburn (Old Food Court)

Earlier in the day we’re hosting our closed swap event for families who contributed items last weekend. But Tot’s Hour is open to everyone. No contribution required - just come along.

We’d LOVE your help spreading the word.
If you’re expecting, know someone who is, are part of a mums & tots group, or care for little ones…this is for you. And if it’s not for you, maybe you know someone who’d love it. Let’s find homes for all these lovely pieces 💫

👶 What to expect
We’re anticipating lots of good quality, barely worn newborn-2yr clothing items leftover from the swap, simply due to how the earlier event works.

For ages 3+, we can’t guarantee anything - it all depends on what remains from the swap event - but you’re very welcome to come along and try your luck.

🎨 There’ll be a few activities for the kiddos too, so you can have a browse while they stay busy.

Pop in, have a rummage, and help us give these clothes the next chapter they deserve ♻️

Certificates & stamp have arrived for Dame Names-A-Lot and they're so adorable that I just have to share!

The Dame will be presiding from 1.30pm-3.30pm on 15th Feb at the swap event - this is mainly because most of the toys find new homes during the swap.

However any little ones arriving for Tot's Hour after the swap event are more than welcome to bring a toy and I'll step into the Dame's shoes to give a certificate and a stamp.

A reminder that the swap part of the day is a closed event but Tot's Hour (3.30pm-4.30pm) is free, no registration required and more details are in the pinned post on our grid ☺️
