I attended a very interesting and informative webinar tonight, ‘Bereavement Education Onto The Curriculum.’
As you may or may not know ( it seems many do not) - bereavement will be on the school curriculum from September 2026.
Some interesting points made, were that a lot of Funeral Directors have offered to go into schools to talk about their roles and to demystify it and to offer support to schools- very few have taken them up on this offer.
There are a lot of resources out there such as Child Bereavement UK and The Good Grief Trust.
I also cannot recommend the wonderful Lorna Vyse - Author’s books on childhood bereavement ( I have also taken her training, especially for Funeral Celebrants). She has a book on pet bereavement too. She has been campaigning for many years and has worked with Bereavement UK to bring bereavement onto the curriculum. I really think she should have been part of this conversation tonight.
