🐝☕ BADDESLEY ENSOR… FANCY A CUPPA?

We're brewing up an idea at The Hive! 💛

We're looking at opening a little Community Café at Baddesley Ensor on Monday mornings — somewhere to pop in after the school run, grab a good coffee and something to eat, have a chat or simply enjoy a bit of company. It'll be help in the Library Room whilst our Caterpillar Club runs in the main hall.

But before we get things cooking, we want to hear from YOU!

☕ What would tempt you through the door?

🥓 Bacon or sausage baps?
🍳 A proper cooked breakfast?
🥐 Croissants, pastries and lighter breakfast options?
🍞 Toast, crumpets and teacakes?
🍰 Cake and a cuppa?
☕ Barista-style coffees, lattes and cappuccinos?

Maybe you'd love a somewhere to meet a friend, catch up with other local people or just enjoy a little time for yourself.

It’s the perfect spot after school for the kids to blow off some steam while grown-ups kick back with a brew and a chat. ☕✨

🎄 CALLING ALL DECLUTTERERS, SELLERS & LOCAL MAKERS! 🛍️

Got pre-loved toys, clothes, books, or household gems sitting around? Want to make room (and a bit of extra cash) before the festive season hits?
We are hosting our Autumn Pre-Christmas Clear Out & Tabletop Sale at Wood End Village Hall alongside our community breakfast, and we’d love for you to grab a table!
Whether you’re clearing out items your kids have outgrown, selling pre-loved Christmas decorations, or offering handmade gifts, it’s a brilliant, low-cost way to reach local families right at the start of the half-term.
🗓 When: Sunday, 25th October 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Where: Wood End Village Hall
🪙 Table Fee: £10 per table (All table fees directly support our local Ladybird Club community sessions 🐞)

Hi Baddesley Ensor! As we celebrate entering our 2nd Year at Baddesley Village Hall, we’d love to invite local families, new moms, and grandparents to join us tomorrow morning, Monday, September 28th (9:30 AM – 11:00 AM)

SPECIAL GUEST TOMORROW:
We are delighted to welcome Karen from the Early Start Team to tomorrow’s session! Karen will be focussing on children's Oral Health and bringing along FREE items to give away (including free toothbrushes and toothpaste!), plus friendly, informal advice for healthy little smiles. 🦷✨

☕️COMING VERY SOON: OUR "TEA & TREATS" COMMUNITY CAFE!
Based directly on genuine conversations with local parents, grandparents, and carers over our first year, we are putting the finishing touches on expanding our Monday mornings into the Library Room very soon!
We know big halls can sometimes feel echoey or intimidating if you just want a quiet cuppa or if you're a grandparent looking after a grandchild on your own. So coming very, very soon, our second room will host a full pop-up Tea & Treats Community Cafe:
☕️ Expanded "Tea & Treats" Menu: More than just toast! We’ll be serving up a full cafe menu (including barista style hot drinks, warm treats, and morning snacks) where you can pay only for what you order. Perfect for a relaxed natter after Woodside school drop-off!
⚖️ Warm Baby Weighing Station: A cozy, carpeted room to weigh your baby in comfort.
💬 Family Support Worker Drop-Ins: A calm, quiet space for friendly chats with visiting support teams like Karen!
🏃‍♂️ MAIN HALL STAY & PLAY TOMORROW:
Tomorrow, our full stay-and-play setup will be running in the sports hall with ride-ons, indoor playground, active soft play, role-play corner, and sensory Tuff Trays!

The Hive Winter Hub is BACK at Hurley Village Hall this Wednesday! 🍫✨🌭

Hi everyone!

As the dark nights draw in, The Hive Family Social is officially reopening its doors at Hurley Village Hall this Wednesday 30th September from 3:00pm – 6:00pm

Building on what we started last autumn, we’re back to offer a warm, safe, and friendly space for local kids to play, craft, and socialize after school—and a cozy spot for parents and carers to sit back and catch up.

📌 What’s On This Week:

☕ The Famous Loaded Hot Chocolate Station: Back by popular demand! Build your own hot chocolate topped with squirty cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles!
🌭 £3 Hot Tea & Drink Combo: Quick, easy after-school hot dogs, drinks, and snacks for just £3 per person.
FREE Entry, Crafts & Games: Drop in straight after the school run to unwind. Tabletop games, craft tables, and space to play are completely free!
🎉 Big News & Shape Future Weeks WITH Us: We’ll be celebrating some exciting grant news! More importantly, we want this hub to belong to YOU. Come tell us what food, themes, and activities you want to see as the nights get darker.
🐞 Join the Ladybird Crew: Learn how older kids (7+) can join our Crew team—helping out, taking charge of fun activities, and earning collectible skill pins!

Coffee is brewing, and the toys are ready! ☕✨
If we’re being completely honest, the tank is running a little low on fuel this morning! After a whirlwind weekend of back-to-back fundraising events for Caterpillar Club, it’s been a proper emotional rollercoaster, and the bucket feels a bit empty today.
But seeing the difference it makes for our local families makes every single second worth it.
We’re shaking off the weekend tiredness and getting ready for a morning of simple, gentle play, lovely catch-ups, and a safe space to reset. If you’re feeling a bit worn out from the weekend too, come on over, grab a hot cup of tea, and let the little ones burn off some energy.

We are back at The Royal Oak Kingsbury for another great community event. All things on our stall are to raise funds for our Caterpillar Club here every Friday here in Kingsbury. We love also meeting local little ones and there grown ups so we’d love me see many of you through the day. We might even do our caterpillar club favourite of Hokey Cokey 🕺

🐝 The Hive Family Socials should be back this autumn starting in Hurley on 30th September 👏👏👏
What is the Hive Family Social I hear some ask… well read below for more details and with the incorporation of our new initiative Ladybird Crew

The Hive Family Socials are a chance for local families to come together straight after school in a relaxed, welcoming space.

Children can hang out and play with their mates while parents and carers can sit down, have a hot drink and catch up with other adults. There’s no pressure to take part in a set activity — the space belongs to the families using it.

There might be opportunities for:

* 🎨 Arts, crafts and creative activities
* 🧸 Play and games
* 🎵 Music and dancing
* 🧩 Games, challenges and community projects
* 🍲 A hot meal
* ☕ A cuppa and a chance for grown-ups to chat
* 💡 Or simply somewhere to be together after school

Most importantly, families get the opportunity to make the Hive their own. If they have an idea for something they’d like to do, make, learn or organise, we’re there to help make it happen.

🐞 The Ladybird Crew

The Ladybird Crew takes that idea one step further — putting children at the heart of making the Hive happen.

It’s an opportunity for children to develop skills, confidence and independence while having a genuine say in their community space.

Ladybirds can:

* 🐞 Help decide what happens at the Hive
* 💡 Share ideas and make decisions
* 🎨 Help shape activities and projects
* 🎤 Take on leadership roles
* 📋 Learn how to plan and organise events
* 💷 Learn about fundraising and budgeting
* 🎉 Plan and run their own events
* 🤝 Take on responsibilities and work as a team
* 🌟 Gain confidence by seeing their ideas become reality

So, for example, if the Ladybirds decided they wanted a Christmas party, they wouldn’t simply ask the adults to organise one.

They’d work out what they wanted their party to include, what it might cost, how much they’d need to raise, and then come up with their own fundraising ideas. They could help organise and run those activities, decide how the money should be used and ultimately help put their own event together.

The adults provide the guidance, boundaries and structure — but the children get to take the lead.

That feels like the real heart of the Ladybird Crew: not adults creating activities for children, but children learning how to create opportunities for themselves and their community.
