The perfect start to my Easter weekend yesterday. Conducting a ceremony for Natalie and David

They wanted it to be personal and full of joyful moments and that’s exactly what it was.

Everyone played a part. The bride and groom, their children, brothers, parents, best friends! It was a true family affair.

I will never get tired of the feeling I have after every ceremony. Yes, there is relief that it’s all gone to plan, but the overwhelming feeling is JOY in the knowledge I’ve played a special part in an important day for my couples.

I adore dogs. Truly. If it were entirely up to me, every wedding would come with a dog. That said, not everyone shares this dream.

For many of us, dogs aren’t just pets, they are furry family members. Before inviting yours down the aisle, it’s worth pausing to ask a few important questions.

Are they comfortable with crowds?

How do they feel about loud noises, and enthusiastic clapping, live music and general “we’re getting married” energy?

You might also want to consider a dog handler. Especially if your dog is large, lively or believes they are the main character!

If you decide to include your dog, you have to accept one golden rule: you can’t stress about the unexpected.

Dogs will be dogs. They might bark, I wander or wag enthusiastically at the wrong moment. But honestly, guests usually love it. It makes the day feel real.

A bark or an over-excited tail wag just means they’re celebrating with you.

Merry Christmas everyone!

What a year! And it’s not over yet…

I am an accomplished TV producer, a career I’m very proud of. I’ve won awards (yes, I have a BAFTA 😁) and I’ve produced TV that has been seen by millions of viewers.

But just over two years ago I set myself a goal, to add another string to my bow - to become a Humanist celebrant and I did it!

Standing with a couple about to be married and being the one conducting the ceremony has brought a new found sense of utter joy and fulfilment.

It’s such a privilege to play an important part of each wedding day. And to be given amazing feedback fills my heart!
