Well… that’s a wrap on Maddy’s Wild Oven era 🥲🤎

What started as a one-year work placement alongside her Food & Business Management degree at Newcastle Uni turned into a whole lot more.

Somehow, Maddy went from landing in our inbox to becoming one of the team, and we’re not quite sure when that happened!

We’ve seen the growth, the hard work, the confidence, the sass (the good kind!😂) and everything in between.

Last week we gave her the Wild Oven send-off she deserved, and although we’re absolutely buzzing for what’s next for her, we’re going to miss having her around.

Good luck with your final year, Mads. We know you’re going to smash it.

There are some wedding stories that stay with you. This is one of them….

Matt joined this wedding as one of our chefs. But alongside being a brilliant chef, he’s also training to become a paramedic, and on this particular day, that meant being there for something far more important than the food. The bride’s dad needed some extra care and support to make it to the ceremony. Matt stepped in, and with the help of the car team, they made sure he got there. He was able to give his daughter away alongside her mother being there too.

When the bride told us she had cried all the way to the registry office, worried that her Mum and Dad might miss her wedding, we honestly felt it. This is why we love what we do.

Yes, we’re here for the wood-fired food, the big feasts and the fireside cooking. But we’re also there for the people, the unexpected moments and the memories that matter long after the plates have been cleared.

Thank you to our lovely couple for trusting us with their day, and for sharing this with us.

Keeping the fires burning and the cookery flowing all weekend long.

And why were completely here for it (since 2012).

There’s just something about being outdoors that hit differently. The fresh air, the open countryside, the smell of trees, the golden evening light, the space to slow down and simply be with the people you love. It does something to the soul.

(We’re pretty sure that’s scientifically proven…if it’s not, it definitely should be)

That’s exactly why so many people are opting for outdoor events, private gardens, fields, farms and countryside estates. They’re creating celebrations that feel relaxed, personal and completely immersed in nature.

And that’s where our Defender and produce comes into it own.

No hiding, we become part of the event. Parked amongst the scenery, cooking with flames, guests chatting with our chef/team soaking up the atmosphere before the feast is even served.

It’s not just about serving incredible food, it’s about adding to the overall experience and becoming part of the landscape.

Because who doesn’t love being surrounded by nature, good food and your favourite people???
