Important Information Regarding Fiji Government Marriage Requirements
• Filling of Special License Application form.
• Birth Certificate of both parties
• Passport size photo of both parties
• Photocopy of Identification (ID) Cards . [Passport- first page with name and photo] of both parties
• If previously married, a decree Nisi or death certificate
• Single status from country of origin if intending to marry a local resident
• Photocopy of Passport (first page with name and photo) if other IDs is used.
These guidelines are set by the Fijian Government. We strongly recommend that couples double-check all requirements before traveling, and tour operators also verify requirements for their clients. The Fiji Visitors Bureau should also be used as a point of reference for pre-wedding requirements. Fiji Wedding Services is not liable for any incorrect information in relation to proposed marriages in Fiji.
Marriage under Fijian law involves two parts:
a) The Registration: The registration of the intent to marry with the Registry Office in Suva, Fiji. The office is open from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday and the meeting will take around 20 minutes. • Superior Wedding Services (Fiji) will arrange an appointment for the completion of the Fijian registry requirements and thereafter the marriage service. It is important to note that the bride and groom will need certified copy of their respective birth certificates, their passports, a Statutory Declaration (Single status) certificate and if previously married, a copy of the divorce papers or death certificate.
b) The Ceremony: A civil or religious ceremony can be held in a village, tropical forest in the Bure ni Reki or a sandy beach.
Superior Wedding Services (Fiji) trading as wedding.fiji will be responsible for the following after the marriage:
a) Tapa framed Marriage Certificate issued by the Registrar General.
b) Apostil stamp on the Marriage Certificate for international recognition issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
