SAIJA is a Sydney based, Finnish born DJ and producer, whose work blends Nordic folk influences with melodic progressive psytrance. Her performances combine electronic music with live Nordic ceremonial frame drum. Her music is inspired by the landscapes and stories of the North: forests, wide skies, and the ancient rhythms of her heritage.
She is regularly performing at festivals and events across Asia Pacific region and Europe. Some of her recent festival bookings include mainstages at Esoteric Festival, Mushroom Valley festival and Dimension festival, New Zealand.
SAIJA's sets are known for offering a powerful yet ethereal melodic psytrance journey, intertwined with Nordic tribal elements. She blends cinematic soundscapes, classical string arrangements, and powerful vocals into a sound that encourages listeners to feel, imagine, and connect with their own inner magic.
She has supported renowned international artists such as Astrix, Morten Granau, Ace Ventura, Omiki, Blazy, Vegas, Reality Test, Groundbass, Sensient, Synthatic and Sighter. She has been booked in a diverse range of events and festivals, such as Esoteric Festival, Mushroom Valley, Zenith Gathering, Paradigm Festival, Tribe Ascension, Elevated Euphoria, Pandemonium, Burning Seed, Sound Factory, Our secret festival, Initiation Festival, Puzzles Connect festival, Art Valley festival and Yatra festival.
Aside from DJing and producing, she is one of the directors of Sydney-based music collective Caldera.
Her debut release, KAIKU ("echo" in Finnish), is a collaboration with Blaize Bass. Kaiku is the sound that answers when you sing into the forest, an echo that carries over time and distance. For Saija, echo is the sound of her home land playing from the woods of Finland to the shores of Australia, where Saija now lives, the track reflects longing, and hope that the echo brings.
