“Tsimdo” — An Unsigned Pact — An Oath Between Two Thieves
With the new global developments and shifting alliances, it seems the ruling Eritrean regime (PFDJ/Hgdef) has found fertile ground. In a short time, it has moved from a position of extreme fear into one of command and influence. The alliance it entered out of fear is now something it has gained the upper hand to lead with dominance.
Its partners, meanwhile, have become trapped in the corner they entered themselves. They now appear reduced to submissive followers, left with little choice but to carry out what they are told. It is the kind of situation captured by the saying: “ሃሊሉያ ዝመጸካ ኣድጊሲ ኣኽቢድካ ጽዓኖ.” Today, who can stop the regime from loading heavier burdens onto its servants? That is politics — the art of placing ever greater weight on those who kneel.
As for the TPLF circle, even the slogan they long used to deceive people — “the right to self-determination” — now seems abandoned. They appear to have embraced the idea of: One flag — One language — One country.
