On October 26th, we’re honored to introduce the two powerful women leading our wellness sessions: Ellie and Sandra - voices of strength, presence, and liberation.
Both are deeply committed to healing, justice, and mindful action - and we couldn’t imagine a better way to begin our day of solidarity and movement.
Here’s a glimpse into their stories and why we chose them to guide our community through yoga and breathwork.
My name is Ellie, and I create movement-focused events that build awareness, connection, and community. In yoga, universal consciousness reminds us that when one person suffers, we all do. As an activist and yoga instructor, I strongly believe that the practice of ahisma – nonviolence – requires discipline, strength, and the courage to rise in the face of injustice. Collective liberation requires action from all of us 🕊️
I’m Sandra Durand, and I’ve been practicing yoga for 25 years and guiding for 5 years. Yoga has not only allowed me to maintain a healthier life physically, but above all, emotionally, psychologically, mentally, and socially. In these times of social struggle and genocide, I feel it’s important that those of us who seek and defend social justice, human rights, democracy and peace, unite to organize, demand, and fight for it. I feel the need and responsibility to use our platforms, our positions of leadership, and our privilege to be the voices of these peoples who are being massacred, like Palestine, Congo, and Sudan. We must pressure our governments to stop the military aid to genocidal governments like Israel and to push for a ceasefire and its colonialist invasion. My practice, my spirituality, and my heart prevent me from ignoring the suffering of so many innocent beings and that’s why I’m taking advantage of this space that AURA has created for a breathwork session dedicated to the life of every Palestinian. I look forward to seeing you!
