It's 28 days until Hannah & Ryan say 'I do' in Madrid and we are in full excitement mode!

As we near the big day, I thought it would be interesting to put some info together so here you have 'A wedding in figures'. It's not about costs, it's an insight into what goes into planning, designing and executing a destination wedding resumed in some eye-opening numerical data...

🗓️ 16 months of planning (November '24 - May '26).
✈️ 1 visit to Madrid and 2 venue visits/menu tastings.
🏰 2 venues - Welcome party and Wedding reception.
🕑 Countless hours working on design and the creation of docs including moodbaords, visual references for stationery, flowers etc, floorplans and all the wedding day coordination details.
👩🏻‍💼17 suppliers plus confetti, fans, parasols and guest book ordered online.
🔥16 professionals that will make up the team on wedding day - wedding coordination x 2, celebrant, makeup & hair x 4, photography/content creation x 3, DJ/technician x 2, entertainment x 2 plus florists, venue staff, numerous catering staff and all those working behind the scenes which are far too many to put into a figure.
📤 390 + email exchanges between me and suppliers (not counting venues and suppliers I reached out to during the sourcing process!).
📥340 + email exchanges between me, Hannah and Ryan.
📮1 shipment from Madrid to the USA - we sourced a Madrid-based designer for all the stationery & signage to ensure we have the same style and materials throughout so the invitations were produced in Madrid and sent over.
📱10,000 WhatsApp messages (I honestly have no idea how many messages have been exchanged in these past 18 months but it's a LOT plus there's been quite a number of video calls and phone calls along the way of course...

It might look like Ben and the boys simply enjoying a beer on wedding day morning but this moment meant so much more.

Ben and Darrelle first met on a beach in Bali and after just one week Ben told his friends that Darrelle would one day become his wife!

They had always planned to celebrate their wedding there but when Covid changed those plans, Barcelona became the chosen destination to mark that fateful meeting on a Bali beach 10 years before.

Darrelle told me she wanted to surprise Ben with some bottles of Bintang, the beer they had shared all those years ago, and I was more than happy to help.
Sourcing it turned out a bit harder than expected but eventually I ordered it from a company in Germany, had it delivered to my home, loaded it in the car and dropped it at the hotel the day before the wedding.

This was never just about the beer.
It was memories in a bottle 🤍

And it's moments like this that remind me why I love what I do!

True story...
Years ago, when I was a teenager living in the UK whilst I finished my education, I went to see a lady medium/spiritualist (it was a 'thing' a the time).
I was told that a move abroad was going to happen with certainty. Then she remained pensive for a few seconds before saying it would be somewhere with sunshine and lots of bougainvillea....'there's bougainvillea everywhere' were her literal words as she made this circular movement with her hands in the air...
This was way before social media existed and we didn't have any family or friends in common so there was no way this lady could know anything at all about me or my life!
I have no idea if she just made it up and got lucky or if there really is such a thing as divination but fast forward a few years and here I was, back in the land where the sun shines bright and there literally is bougainvillea everywhere!!

Long before this moment, there has been a whole process researching and vetting potential suppliers. Starting with checking that style and budget align, then comes the checking for values, connection and communication before I'll share with couples as suitable possibilities.

Today, October 31st, is the perfect day to celebrate my beautiful bride Molly who weaved her personality and love of all things dark and spooky into her wedding day!
Molly swapped a traditional white veil for black and the addition of a black ribbon around her bouquet finished the bridal look beautifully 🖤

Special congratulations to Molly, Jose and little Hugo who announced today they are expecting a baby girl! 💌
