Music Day. What a night.

From the World Premiere of ‘Seekers’ and powerful conversations exploring music as a force for healing, to a packed Baluarte de Santa Lucía beneath the walls of Dalt Vila, Music Day brought together artists, storytellers, visionaries, and audiences from across the island and beyond.

Earlier in the evening, the Music as Medicine panel moderated by explored the transformative power of sound, bringing together musicians, scientists, activists, and cultural voices in a conversation that moved far beyond music itself.

As the sun set, the energy shifted to celebration.

The ROLA Music Awards honoured artists using music as a force for connection, expression, and positive change, before an unforgettable evening of live performances from , , .digital.studio, and more special guests.

And then came & .

The future is being designed long before it arrives.

As part of Youth & Next Generation Day at ROLA, designer and filmmaker Jeff Garner transformed Plaza del Parque into an open-air runway, presenting his Prophetik™️| Jeff Garner collection rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability, and conscious creation.

Jeff’s documentary Let Them Be Naked, challenges the hidden costs of fast fashion and advocating for a more responsible relationship with what we wear.

Surrounded by families, young people, artists, and festival guests, the presentation became more than a fashion show. It was a reflection on the kind of world we are creating, and the values we choose to pass on.

A fitting contribution to a day dedicated to the next generation, and to imagining a future where creativity, beauty, and responsibility can exist together.

How do we create meaningful change?

Youth and Next Generation Panellist Petra Laranjo explains it begins much closer to home than we often imagine.

One person at a time.
One day at a time.
One story at a time.

A reminder shared during ROLA talk ‘The Digital Coming-of-Age’ that lasting impact rarely happens overnight. It is built through patience, consistency, and the small choices we make every day.

As long as we continue to honour the stories that matter, show up with intention, and engage with the world differently each day, we are already creating change.

A reflection from Youth and Next Generation Day.

What comes next in creativity and culture?

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly woven into daily life, how will it shape the stories we tell, the identities we form, and the future we imagine?

On Youth & Next Generation Day, ROLA brought together voices from film, technology, publishing, education, philosophy, and creative innovation for a timely conversation exploring the opportunities, questions, and responsibilities emerging in an age of accelerating change.

The Digital Coming-of-Age: AI, Imagination, and the Future of Storytelling examined how younger generations are growing up alongside artificial intelligence, and what this means for creativity, authorship, consciousness, and human expression.

Among the many thought-provoking moments, Petra Laranjo Petra Laranjo reflected on a recent exercise in which a group of teenagers were asked what they wanted to become when they grew up. An estimated 70–80% answered: influencers.

Not as a criticism, but as a reflection of the world young people are inheriting, and a reminder of the importance of conversations around aspiration, identity, creativity, and meaning in the digital age.

Featuring Adama Sanneh , Petra Laranjo Petra Laranjo, Simon Mirren , Ivette Carrión Ivette Noboa Carrion, Bamdad Aghajani , and Scott Franklin Scott Franklin.

Because the future is not only being built by technology.

It is being shaped by the stories we tell, the questions we ask, and the values we choose to carry forward.

A special thank you to 𝗙𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗭𝗔 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗟 for welcoming Ray of Light Awards into this year’s official programme and helping create a shared cultural framework across the city.

“You are not a noun, you are a verb.”

During Youth & Next Generation Day, neuroscientist Beau Lotto challenged one of our most fundamental assumptions: that we are fixed, finished versions of ourselves.

Instead, he offered a different perspective.

That the brain is continually becoming. Continually adapting, learning, responding, and evolving.

We often define ourselves through labels, identities, achievements, or stories about who we are. But life is movement. Growth. Transformation.

“You are not a noun, you are a verb. You are a becoming. A living process.”

A reminder that we are not confined by who we were yesterday.

We are shaped by what we choose, what we learn, what we imagine, and what we create next.

A reflection on possibility, change, and the extraordinary capacity of the human mind to evolve.

“We are spiritual beings in a physical body, and not the other way around.”

At DEATH: Not the End. Presence, Expansion, and the Stories We Tell, Don Paris invited audiences to consider a different relationship with consciousness, energy, and human potential.

Drawing on decades of research and exploration, he described radionics as a “backdoor into spirituality”, offering a perspective on how thought, intention, and awareness shape our lived experience.

A thought-provoking contribution to a conversation that explored grief, healing, presence, and the mysteries that continue to surround life and death.
