In a week when the annual DJ Mag Top 100 poll was announced and I didn’t actually know 29 of them, it was nice to be included in an alternative list by The Dancefloor Diaries surrounded by DJs who I personally consider to be some of the best DJs in the world.
This is not a diss of the artists that featured in the DJ Mag poll by the way, I’m sure all those DJs that I’ve not heard of before are all doing well in the circles in which they operate, and they’ve likely not heard of me either, but just goes to show how far and wide the Electronic Music Industry stretches these days. It’s kinda crazy just how many different scenes all operate within their own ecosystems.
And what is the definition of success anyway? If you’re able to do something you love from the heart, have found an audience who enjoy whatever that is, and have built a community who support you, however big or small, then that qualifies as success in my book. Especially, if you manage to do it over an extended period of time. Big respect to all the artists out there who continue to do what they love.
