Rooftop Yama | is a new place by House of Riche.
It’s still in progress, and we wanted to share with you a window into how a place like this comes to life ,especially when it is guided by a vision and a mission like ours.
We were told to tell you more about the background of why we do things.
So we will.
We have known Dahab for as long as we can remember.
Our roots here go back to 1987.
Capitalism arrived late • thankfully • but it did arrive. And today, Dahab is changing fast. As the town becomes popular again and finds itself back on the map, the effects are visible and impossible to ignore.
For us, taking on spaces in Dahab has never been just about business.
It is about presence.
About having eyes on the ground.
About cleaning streets, de-escalating conflicts, offering a friendly face, and constantly reminding people and ourselves that money is not everything.
Money is a powerful tool.
And like all powerful tools, it can blind.
That is the quiet fight we are in. Every day.
Every place we take on is chosen for multiple reasons, all tied to one thing: protecting Dahab’s soul while it is being reshaped.
There is also something important about how we build.
We don’t throw everything away to start with a blank page.
We work with what is already there.
We maximize what the place has to offer.
We reuse, adjust, and focus on the base making everything work before making it perfect.
Letting go of perfectionism is a hard road.
But it is a conscious choice.
Cleanliness, functionality, and care come first.
From there, the place finds its own rhythm.
Yama is one of those choices.
We took on this rooftop because the surrounding square has a persistent garbage problem. We already have another rooftop in this area, but 2 place alone is not enough. To sustainably address the issue with manpower, consistency, and care .. we need at least two more spaces here to make it possible.
