Kathryn Mohr whispers, weeps, or wails, perhaps all at once. What reaches us? Vocals and guitar, certainly, yet the shadows suggest more: electronics, a sampler, loopers, drones? The lights are dim, at Favoritbar, on her album covers, in the microcosm of her music, just faint bulbs glowing. We lean in, searching for a glimpse of the sombre silhouette, the hushed yet piercing sound world she shapes.

Her dusky lullabies drift upward, urging us to stare at the ceiling as time slows. Then her voice swells, and angular guitar strums cut like shards through the somnambulist haze. We raise our heads, trying to decipher her expression: anger, frustration, sorrow? Yet we hesitate to meet her gaze, wary of the shadowed intensity that lingers there.

So we retreat again into the half-light, wrapped in eerie but oddly consoling reveries, textures and emotions that resist our grasp and perhaps should. Some things are better left unresolved, unnamed, unseen. Kathryn Mohr and her tapes fade back into the night: and we follow, carrying echoes we can neither hold nor forget.

Los Angeles trio Automatic return to the Isar shores with their deviant strain of groove-inflected post-punk: tightly-zipped and full of acute motorik rhythms! Think chilly no-wave nonchalance meets mechanical pop precision: bass, drums, synths — and best of all, zero guitars! (Anyone remember Chicks on Speed’s “We Don’t Play Guitars”?) Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon, and Lola Dompé put the FUN(k) back into post-punk, trading grey-on-grey grit for elastic, body-moving rhythms that snap with sly sublimity.
Berlin’s Liiek thrill with angular post-punk and rogue rhythms of their own full of gnarly guitars, wiry energy, and a sound both recalcitrant and razor-sharp. Collapse or control? They’re dressed to thrill and wired for friction.
Framing the night is our glittering friend and charlatan Grotto Terrazza, spinning gems from his bona fide collection of hard wax. Come early, stay late as you won’t want to miss a single groove of his sterling selection.

After years of saying “let’s definitely do that,” we’re so excited to finally host our dear Trauma Glow and Amalia Bloom in Munich!
Your favorite local slowcore duo, hard drive recovery club (members from plainhead, Hallway, …) will be opening the night – so you really shouldn’t miss this one!

***TRAUMA GLOW (Shoegaze/Grunge/Emo, Wien)
Trauma Glow is an alternative band from Vienna. The band is currently releasing their new single million in one in collaboration with Vienna-based artist Sakura Katsuura Chow. The new single is rooted in shoegaze but incorporates influences from pop, country, and rock, blending acoustic guitars with effects pedals. million in one feels more intimate, an attempt to merge the outside world, with all its events, into the inner sensations one experiences alone in a room with their own consciousness. Money meets lemonade. Over shimmering beats, an everyday line like “Night walk to get your favourite soda pop... I write another day and the years fly by” feels fragile, while at the same time sketching out a future in a big house. Trauma Glow transforms this feeling into a post-digital anthem—both nostalgic and unsettling.

***AMALIA BLOOM (Emo/Post-Hardcore, IT)
AMALIA BLOOM is a 5-piece band from Vicenza, Italy. Deeply rooted in the Italian punk DIY scene, the band nonetheless strives to reach beyond genre borders. Their sound can be described as a distinctive blend of emo and rock, with a punk hardcore attitude.

***HARD DRIVE RECOVERY CLUB (Slowcore, München)
The early morning bike and a hard drive full of soil. We don’t know how to play the guitar but we always do. And we sing and then we add tin drums that don’t bang.

The summer fades, and behold! The Reformation of emo begins! Cast aside the reactionary dogmas of the so-called “real.” No more indulgences paid to furious blastbeats, no more heresies of rage and hate! We proclaim a schism, and upon the bedroom door we nail the ninety-five verses of fake emo: be fake. Be weak. Be self-pity. Be yourself! Cry over math homework! Mourn ye to the twinkling of guitars! Seek ye the holy dye at the mall! For verily, you say Rites of, yet we answer: American Football.

This is our gospel: not wrath, but fragile chords and open tunings; not fury, but cracked voices, out of tune confessions, not dogma, but awkward sincerity. And lo, the five apostles bear witness to this new covenant: Michael Cera Palin from the land of the West; Ruined from the mountains of Switzerland; Pennwood Rd.; Riot But Cute; and Beach Church, keepers of the local faith. Together they shall sing, scream, and whine the doctrine of fake emo: a sacred epistle for the waning of summer, and the dawn of a softer schism!

We proclaim the Great Reformation of Emo on Friday, 10.10. but behold! As the last light of summer fades, the gospel tour descends upon Bavaria: repent, rejoice, repeat. The holy-yet-entirely-fake alliance stands revealed:
Ruined the Apostles, Pennwood Rd. the Witnesses, Beach Church & Frens the Heretics, and Sunflower Radio the False Messiahs.
Together they deliver the New New New Testament of Emo as written in the book of CoreChaos II: Bear witness, break down, whine along! The feelings are real! The covenant is fake!

We’re delighted to host the release show of our longtime comrade Brnjsmin and to team up with Nuremberg’s verydeeprecords for a night of imaginative and fluid electronics — live performances and listening sessions inside Blitz Club’s acoustic elysium.
Brnjsmin, the solo project of Giovanni Raabe, celebrates his second album, Buero of Music. His sound has always balanced experimentation and emotion, carried by a nonchalant, non-conformist spirit. Over the years, we’ve seen his ambient-tinged, unorthodox electronica gain new momentum: from introspective existentialism to a more confident and even witty voice. There’s an intriguing element of unpredictability in his serpentine structures and sounds, but that’s part of the charm: we gladly follow the twists and turns to brighter destinations!
Joining our longtime companion is Djonni Laser. This curious character’s evocative explorations on keys and machines draw from a wide range of influences: theatre scores! Film composition! Activist choirs! FLINTA* raves!, and many more, weaving these influences into hypnotic, unorthodox performances.
Framing the live sets are listening sets from the verydeeprecords HQ, the verydeep DJ team: meet iseekyou and Red On behind the decks of Blitz Club’s spaceship, ready to take you on a deep dive into the imprint’s idiosyncratic ideas and musical approaches: balancing electronic and organic, pop and experimental, all grounded in a love for uncompromising musical expression.
