Best Valentines Day arrangement of the year! This one turned out amazing. Also probably one of the largest I have done for an occasion outside of weddings. This practically shouts “Spring is right around the corner!” And I am so here for it!

5 Low Key (But Still Romantic) Things to do on Valentine’s Day

5- Winter Walk
I really used to dislike walking in the cold, or being outside at all when it was cold. Or just being cold. However, there is just something super refreshing and rejuvenating about a wintery walk in the woods, or on the beach, or even just through your neighborhood, that resets something inside you. Whether it’s with a friend or two, or significant other, or kiddo, it just feels good to walk and chat about literally whatever. Pack some hot cocoa or coffee to take along, or come back to something a little stronger to warm those bones (if you’re of age) and maybe flowers waiting, or a cozy dinner.

4- Game Night
The sky is the limit here. Board games with other couples or friends, some sweet treats or game night nosh and some infused drinks. Or a quieter evening in, with just your special someone and a deck of cards or video games. Light some candles or put up a string of twinkly lights to add to the effect, and get some aroma therapy going with a simmer pot.

3- My husband and I are both big readers, and love to have book reading dates. We settle on the couch with whatever book we’re currently reading and a plate of goodies between us. We turn on the fireplace, get cozy, and read our books. It is a wonderful way to spend an evening. We often will add a glass of wine, (mulled would be extra cozy) and fresh flowers always help set the mood. Think moody library.

2- Heart Themed Dinner
My family thinks it’s fun when I make a heart shaped pie or our pasta happens to be red and pink. There are endless possibilities here, and while it’s simple in ex*****on- the impact is big. For a date night or Galentine’s add some mulled wine and roses to the spread, maybe even a romantic simmer pot to the stove for ambiance.

5 Low Key (but still romantic) Things to do on Valentines Day

1- Chill Breakfast w/ Fresh Flowers
I do more for Valentine’s Day now that I have kids. I want to celebrate it with them. It’s fun to surprise them with something when they wake up in the morning. I either grab some sweet breakfast pastries or if I have time I make my own, and do some fresh flowers on the table with tea or hot cocoa. You could spice it up for a sweetheart with mimosas or infused teas. Or turn it into a gal pal brunch.

Side note - one year for Valentine’s Day I got my husband this set of mugs that say weirdo and weirdest (see below). He’s weirdest, and that’s one of my favourite things about him.

I’m a hopeless romantic, but not a big fan of Valentines Day. That being said, I do really like quality time with my husband, kids, and friends. I love surprises and tasty treats. Even more I like doing fun things for the special people in my life.
