Two unforgettable evenings of classical music opened this year’s Technopolis 20 Classics series.

On 19 September, Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniță and Russian pianist Igor Andreev offered a breathtaking recital, performing works by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Glazunov and more. Their dialogue on stage was full of passion, intensity and deep musicality, leaving the audience captivated.

On 21 September, the magic continued, joined by the 17th year old talented Cypriot pianist Anna Avramidou, who brought freshness and energy to the stage. Together, the three musicians created moments of lyricism and brilliance, in a concert that highlighted both virtuosity and emotion.

Three concerts are planned for the latest edition of Technopolis 20’s Classics concerts series starting on September 19 with a live performance by the Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniță and Russian pianist Igor Andreev.
The evening’s programme will feature a rich selection of works for cello and piano. It will open with the world premiere of the Sonata for Viola/Violin and Piano in D minor by Michail Glinka, which Andreev completed and arranged for cello in 2021, resurfacing and reintroducing the audiences to this significant and lesser-known early 19th-century work.
The repertoire will continue with Beethoven’s lyrical Cello Sonata in A major, Op. 69, a masterpiece known for its balance of intimacy and grandeur. Two romantic miniatures by Alexander Glazunov, Chant du ménestrel and Sérénade espagnole, will enrich the programme before the evening concludes with Shostakovich’s emotionally powerful Cello Sonata in D minor, Op. 40.

The Technopolis20 Classics 2024 season has officially come to an end, marked by an unforgettable closing event featuring the extraordinary Amalgamation Choir on the 13th of December.
Through their music and words, the choir reminded us of the unifying power of music — a force that transcends language, borders, and differences. Music is our common language, one that speaks to every heart in its own unique way; it is emotion distilled in its purest form. It carries joy, sorrow, and hope all at once. When we listen together, we feel together.
This concert was more than just a performance; it was a connection — a reminder of how art touches the soul.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the choir and especially to its founder and conductor, Vicky Anastasiou. A special thank you to Giorgos Kalogirou for his surprise guest appearance, which made the evening even more magical.

Technopolis 20 Classics presents a four-hand piano duet concert featuring the acclaimed musicians Nadezda Pisareva & Georgy Tchaidze, at the Markideion Theatre, on Wed, 23/10, 8pm. Pisareva, a distinguished pianist with numerous accolades from international competitions, currently teaches at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Tchaidze, renowned for his refined technique & sensitivity, has received acclaim across Europe & North America.

On Friday, October 4th, the Markideion Theatre was the setting for an extraordinary evening, as Technopolis 20 Classics presented the world-renowned violinist Domenico Nordio and acclaimed pianist Mikhail Lidsky. From the opening note, their performances captured the audience’s attention, each showcasing an exceptional mastery of their instrument.

Domenico Nordio, having performed on the world's most prestigious stages and in more than 90 countries, displayed his remarkable technique and emotional depth. His powerful interpretation of each piece was a testament to his decades-long career. Mikhail Lidsky, known for his virtuosity and vast repertoire, brought his signature brilliance to the piano, delivering a technically flawless performance.

Respighi’s Four Pieces opened the concert with a lyrical and expressive tone, while the Paganini/Szymanowski Capricci impressed the audience with its intricate complexity and precision. Dallapiccola’s Tartiniana Seconda added an element of refined sophistication to the evening. The concert concluded with Busoni’s Sonata Op. 36a, a work that highlighted the performers' exceptional skill and interpretive depth.
