The other day at the gym, one of our members, Monica, celebrated her birthday and arrived with cakes for everyone.
As we gathered around after the workout, sharing a sweet treat and a few laughs, I was reminded that communities are built in the most unexpected places.
A gym is so much more than weights, treadmills and fitness goals. It's a place where people from different countries, cultures, backgrounds and beliefs come together with a shared purpose. We cheer each other on, celebrate milestones, support one another through challenges and create connections that extend far beyond exercise.
As a celebrant, I often speak about the importance of belonging. Yesterday was a perfect reminder that belonging doesn't require us to be the same. It simply asks us to show up, welcome one another and celebrate life's moments together.
