*OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE DONGA MANTUNG YOUTHS ALLIANCE (DOMYA) ON THE ATTACK IN MBAT VILLAGE*
The Donga Mantung Youths Alliance (DOMYA) expresses its deepest heartbreak and strongest condemnation following the brutal attack on the village of Mbat in the Nwa Sub-division. The reports of twenty homes burned, the destruction of a school and church, and the displacement of over one hundred of our brothers, sisters, and elders have left us profoundly saddened.
As the voice and energy of the youth in our division, DOMYA stands in total solidarity with the victims who have lost their livelihoods, their food supplies, and their sense of security. Such acts of violence against a peaceful community are not only a strike against Mbat but an assault on the stability and future of the entire Donga-Mantung Division. We feel the pain of every student whose school was vandalized and every family now forced to sleep in the cold.
We echo the call for calm from the Senior Divisional Officer and urge all young people to remain law-abiding and vigilant. DOMYA calls upon the established commission and humanitarian organizations to move with urgency in providing relief to the displaced. Now, more than ever, we must show the true spirit of our division by looking out for one another and cooperating with the authorities to ensure such heartless acts are never repeated.
To the people of Mbat: you are not alone. DOMYA stands with you, and we will continue to advocate for the peace, protection, and recovery that every citizen of our division deserves.
Signed,
Bah LINUS
