Thank you to everyone who joined us for the MushRoom Psychedelic Salon Summer Edition 2026.

What a beautiful gathering beneath the trees of Villa Schönberg, luckily still standing tall after the storm the night before.

From museum tours, conversations and performances to music, screen printing, shared food and unexpected encounters: thank you for bringing your curiosity, openness and presence into this space.

This edition invited us to look at the iconic fly agaric mushroom as a cultural symbol moving between myth, ritual, science and collective imagination.

A heartfelt thank you to all artists, researchers, collaborators and guests who made this midsummer evening so special, and to our partners at Cabaret Voltaire, Museum Rietberg, and Susanne Seiler, founder of The Psychedelic Salon, for the trust and support in creating this transdisciplinary encounter.

Until next time ♥️🍄✨

Between Science & Healing: The Fly Agaric in Conversation

Thanks to its striking red-and-white cap, Amanita muscaria is deeply embedded in European folk culture and the collective visual imagination. It serves as a paradigmatic figure for understanding how perception and knowledge shift over time.

In collaboration between MushRoom, Cabaret Voltaire, and Museum Rietberg, an artistic-scientific space of encounter emerges, where artists and researchers explore the fly agaric as a multifaceted cultural phenomenon between myth, ritual, and science.

Within this framework, a multifaceted conversation is held between trauma therapist and herbalist Ramona Laich and physician Dr. Ilhui Wicki.

Originally conceived with neuroscientist and pharmacologist Dr. Dario Dornbierer, the dialogue now continues in a slightly shifted constellation with Dr. Ilhui Wicki, who completed his doctoral research within the same Psychedelics Research Group at the University of Zurich as Dr. Dario Dornbierer.

Together with trauma therapist and herbalist Ramona Laich, Ilhui Wicki explores complementary fields of knowledge, inviting us to encounter the often misunderstood fly agaric from new perspectives.

Please note: The conversation will mostly be in German but an English synthesis may be given and question can be asked in english.

20. June 2026, Trio Heinz Herbert – Tomorrow Wonderland, the closing concert of the MushRoom Psychedelic Salon Summer Edition 2026, open air at Park Villa Schönberg.

Dominic Landolt (guitar), Ramon Landolt (keys), and Mario Hänni (drum) lead us into layered sonic landscapes where structures dissolve, rhythms shift, and listening becomes a form of movement between orientation and disorientation.

Rooted in jazz, electronic music, and experimental sound practices, the trio builds a hypnotic, evolving soundscape: at times delicate and interwoven like mycelium, at times pulsating like a nocturnal forest in motion.

As the final moment of the evening at Park Villa Schönberg, the concert becomes an invitation to linger, to drift, and to let the midsummer saturday unfold into sound.

As part of this year’s Psychedelic Salon, which explores the cultural, artistic and scientific dimensions of the fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria), Marion Neumann and Olga Koksharova invite us into an immersive sound performance attuned to the subtle voices that move beneath, above and between us.

Marion Neumann, Basel-based multidisciplinary artist and director of The Mushroom Speaks, works at the intersection of sound, film, and mindfulness, creating performative spaces where the phenomenon of fungi becomes sensorially present rather than merely described. Marion Neumann

Together with Olga Koksharova, artist, composer, and landscape architect, born in Siberia and based in Geneva, she weaves recorded material, live sound, and the resonance of the present moment into a collective listening experience.

An invitation to arrive. To tune in and to connect.

On our upcoming MushRoom x Psychedelic Salon on June 20th, we invite you to enter the evening from 5pm onwards with music by Tillmann Ostendarp - aka - and soul food by Mama Gloria

Tillmann Ostendarp creates a sonic environment for arriving, connecting, and settling into the space. Drawing on a background spanning jazz, experimental electronics, large-scale collaborations, and free improvisation, his sets move fluidly between rhythm, texture, and atmosphere.

A musical beginning to an evening dedicated to shifting perspectives and exploring the many stories surrounding Amanita muscaria.

This year’s MushRoom x Psychedelic Salon is centered around Amanita Muscaria (Fliegenpilz / Fly Agaric)

As part of the program, a rare guided tour takes place at Museum Rietberg with curator Damian Christinger, focusing on selected artefacts, with a special emphasis on Tlingit material culture and the cultural significance of the fly agaric within their traditions.

Masks and amulets such as those shown here, and found in the collection of Museum Rietberg, played an important role in Tlingit rituals and daily life. The animals they represented could offer protection, signify belonging to a certain clan, or were the transcendental means of transformation. The Tlingit believed that the boundaries between existences, between being human and becoming animal were porous and could be breached through meditation, music, dance and chanting, as well as with help by psychotropic substances.

The tour opens broader perspectives on related practices across northern regions, from Alaska to Siberia and Scandinavia, making these connections tangible through objects, context, and storytelling.

⏰ Two guided tours will be offered at 15:30 and 16:15, depending on audience language (German or English).

🎫 Extra ticket: CHF 10

Three days.
Three distinct atmospheres.
Three invitations to enter the MushRoom.

Thank you for stepping into this space of mushiness with us. For your openness, your listening, your dancing bodies, your thoughtful questions, your quiet presence.

From free movement and high harp vibrations
to plant entanglements and bilingual conversations,
from tea-scented encounters to inner journeys through sleep, sound, and stillness,
this edition unfolded through your willingness to be part of it.

We are deeply grateful to all the artists, scientists, and collaborators of in-between spaces who shaped these days with their sensibility, rigor, and imagination. And to everyone who helped hold the space behind the scenes.

MushRoom lives through relation.
Through the courage to enter porous spaces.
Through the trust of not always knowing what will emerge.

Thank you for being part of this mycelial weave.
Until the next unfolding — 20 June 2026.

On Sunday, we will slow down, rest together, and explore different states of consciousness.

The afternoon begins with a talk by Benjamin Stucki - data scientist (PhD, ETH Zurich) turned sleep and consciousness researcher at the University of Zurich - who will ask the question: „Does consciousness disappear during sleep?“

Afterwards, a Yoga Nidra (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) session with Gana & Gloria Amelia gently guides us inward. From there, we flow into a live ambient set by Martina Berther & Philipp Schlotter, inviting everyone to lie down and continue the journey through sound.

To close, harpist Marina Mello presents a specially prepared solo set.

Program
16:00 Doors & Tea Salon

16:30 Talk “An Inner Science of Consciousness” — Dr. Benjamin Stucki

17:00 Yoga Nidra (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) — Gana & Gloria Amelia

18:00 Sleep concert — Martina Berther & Philipp Schlotter

18:45 Harp solo — Marina Mello
