NorthWords is here! Welcome to Day One of our 20th anniversary of NorthWords Literary Festival!

How will you celebrate with us today? By joining us for our first open mic night of our festival weekend!

Gather at Yellowknife Book Store at 6:30 this evening.

Bring a piece to read or get cozy in the audience to hear from visiting authors and local authors as they entertain you with their literary creations.

Never been to an open mic before? Here's what you need to know.

Gather welcomes performers who would like to share their original: spoken word, poetry, short stories, novel excerpts or comedy! Remember, this is an all ages event, so keep it PG13.
All gender identities and all voices welcome!
Performers sign up on arrival for a five minute time slot to perform.

OUR FEATURE PERFORMER:
Niigaan Sinclair is an award-winning Anishinaabe writer, editor, and professor from Peguis First Nation. He holds the Faculty of Arts Professorship in Indigenous Knowledge and Aesthetics at the University of Manitoba and is a regular columnist for the Winnipeg Free Press. His recent book, Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre, won the 2024 Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction. Sinclair has received numerous honours, including the National Newspaper Award for best columnist and Peace Educator of the Year. He frequently speaks across Canada and appears on CBC, CTV, and APTN as a leading voice on Indigenous issues.

We are growing!!

Because of all of the success, we will have to start charging GST June 1st.

with that in mind…We are giving you a 1 week notice to book your events now!

Book by June 1st save on tax! Event must be between Jun 15-August 15,2025

Did we mention, we will be fully focusing on the business and able to offer full day corporate catering starting June 6th!!

With me being a small business of one and now receiving an exciting amount of private events (all while working full time) I am having to pull back on the charcuterie boxes.

Once we find a full-time kitchen to use, and commercial space, I will love to hire and train someone to help!

But for now, here are the current blackout dates for charcuterie.

We will be at booth 123 on Sunday at the Yellowknife Spring Trade Show, come by and say hi!

There will be individual boxes for one with a long stem rose for sale. Purchase one and be entered into the charcuterie box for 6!
