We don’t want to be famous, we just want to be fearless! BNYB is a dance band available for events, festivals and private functions.
Seasoned musicians from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We have individually been on the Winnipeg music scene for longer than we care to admit. BNYB was formed out of a love for great music, creating an awesome sound and making our audiences feel special. Hence the addition of "your band". We play the hits and a few originals. We play the songs you know and love. Sing-along is encouraged and dancing is contagious.

Folks, we have NEW MUSIC just around the corner. Our new guitar talent has provided the little extra edge to our sound and the addition of a multi-talented key-man has really filled out our music!

When my boys were younger, I gave them “the talk”. And one thing I stressed to them was,”if she’s not having a good time, YOU’RE not having a good time. Breaking News feels the same way about our audience. We do our best to put great music you will enjoy on the set list, but we also work hard to engage the audience. We regularly pull people up on stage to help us out and love to see people dancing and singing along. We realize that we are not U2 or the actual Stones, so you didn’t come just to see us play. (Except some close relatives of course, thanks Mom!) We work really hard to make sure you enjoyed your time with us and hopefully make it memorable for you. We play for you! Hence our name, Breaking News “your band”.
We are “plug and play”
Give us power and we are good to go! We also have the advantage of running everything through our mixer. That may not mean anything to you, but it means that we can adjust volume and the mix at any time. Most old school rock bands have amps and regular drums which often results in the battle of everyone competing to be heard. We don’t have that issue and use the latest technology (except my Yamaha keyboard from 30 years ago) which allows for a great quality, professional sound. Make no mistake, we can rock your ears off if you desire, but that choice is yours!
Not the same old tune
Our set list doesn’t resemble the typical bar-band repertoire. We play music that you will recognize from artists you know well. But we shy away from those tunes that have been “done-to-death” (sorry, no Mustang Sally tonight). Our goal is to play music you can sing and dance to and hopefully make you say, “I love this song, haven’t heard it in a while”. We might throw in the occasional original just to see if you like it, but those won’t dominate the show.
Affordable but not “cheap”
While we wait patiently for that million dollar record deal, our fans get to hear us play at a very reasonable price for a four-piece ensemble. Most of us have day jobs so our goal is to get paid fairly for what we do and the time we put in. None of us need a Ferrari to take to the gigs (it would be nice but where would you put the equipment?). You get a quality product at a very reasonable price.
