✨️This evening starting at 7pm at Aloe Lounge 1.✨️
Konpa is a vibrant Haitian dance and music style that originated in the mid-20th century. It's a couple's dance known for its smooth movements, particularly the hip rotations in a figure-8 pattern.

Konpa is deeply embedded in Haitian culture and is celebrated at social gatherings, weddings, and other events. Konpa has continued to evolve, incorporating elements of Latin, jazz, and more recently, hip-hop and reggae. It's influence extends beyond Haiti, impacting music and dance styles throughout the Caribbean and beyond.

Eric and Yana will take you through the fundamentals of this dance working on footwork, hip action and musicality (especially as it relates to Gouyad).
