I would like to address an issue for couples planning a mid to large-sized Wedding Day event. Personal Consultations are only one benefit (among many) our clients receive when they hire us. Lately, I have heard a couple of reasons why people (especially the Gen-Z types) don’t want to either physically call and chat, or meet up to discuss such an important event. Phrases like ‘annoying’, or ‘no time’, “don’t want them knowing anything about me” – really speak of personal insecurity, and a fear of possibly being up-sold into something they won’t want – especially a particular DJ! Let me clarify...
From our perspective as one of your professional vendors, personal consultations are the best thing you could do. First off, you (should) get to meet your preferred DJ for the incredible day that lies ahead. During this meet up (say, for coffee), you can usually tell if the DJ is full of himself – “yeah, I’ve seen it all man... done it all, too - you got no worries – I got a library of 2 million songs, I can handle everything; it’s cool!” If a DJ tells you this, and even worse – expects a deposit right away, then thank them for their time, and get up and leave. Also, if they can’t be bothered to listen to your concerns and questions, then get rid of them – quickly. (There are several other things to watch for, but I won’t list them all here.)
The point, is that you can usually tell right away when you are faced with someone with a lack of experience, OR a ton of experience backing a very honest and good presentation from a very legitimately established company. Beware of those who work only off of WI-fi enabled devices or have a limited ‘downloaded’ library. ... and always ask to see their Connect music license. Always!
During your consultation, you have the chance to exchange contact information, go over and sign any contracts (if you choose), and discuss anything on your mind with your professional wedding DJ.
This is absolute gold!! It’s the chance to establish personality and mutual trust in one sitting.
Why would anyone not take advantage of this opportunity? It beats me, because a consultation can take as little or as much time as you need. It really is up to you. If you are out of town a great distance, then of course, I understand if you can’t make it. .. and there are other reasons as well, but this is your wedding day we’re talking about. Email can work as well as texting, but to me, at least one personal consultation is the best way to go. As you can tell, there is a lot more associated with this quick article than I am writing here. So not to be too long-winded...
I would love to help you sort through any planning questions you may have, and hey, my advice is always free! Really – no up-sell, no fluff and no crap. If you would like to see what our DJ service can do for you, then please contact us any time. I love meeting new people and hearing from old friends again. Thanks in advance and we’ll see you soon!
