Nectarine trees bloom early in the season, even before the leaves show up. These pink flowers aren’t just beautiful — they’re the first step in fruit production. Each blossom has to be pollinated to become a nectarine later in the summer.

If you're growing your own tree, now's a good time to keep an eye out for bees and maybe give nature a hand with a soft brush if pollinators are scarce. Also, late frosts can damage blooms, so a light cover at night can help protect future fruit.
