Welcome to Owl Eye Photographys meaning, the reasoning for this beautiful endeavor and the opening to a new chapter.
Family has everything to do with who we become and how I choose to tell my story is through the events that have shaped me over the years.
Have you ever had the most catastrophic event take place and hurt you and your family so deeply that everything in your life changed?
I cherish my mom, she's been a woman who's raised 4 kids on and off on her own. She's battled the depths of mental health and her own darkness. Yet somehow, she always manages to come out sining on the other side, laughing, smiling and wild as all hell. I am my mother's daughter. For when you look at me and see love and light, I'm telling you, I'm the product of my mom.
The gift that I have as an artist is sharing stories, capturing them, and turning them into art pieces. Owl Eye's Story is in this short film that was brought together by years of experience in the art industry, photo and video world and cultivated into my passion for directing.
My friend Jas and I had a chat many years ago. I said to her that I would have her film for me on my story for how Owl Eye Photographys name came about. The thing is, we were young twenties, skateboarding around Banff and had no clue that we would diverse into this beautiful, team in our mountain community nearly 8 years later.
In 2024, I spent time in my bathtub writing for 3 hours, completely dumping the feelings and emotions since the age of 11 until last year. We took that and made this into a 6.5-minute film.

I am so incredibly grateful to have the people in my life who’ve helped shape me into who I am today and have made this journey possible.
First, I want to give a huge shoutout to my sister, Courtney. She trusted me enough to let me borrow her daughter, Chevy—my adorable little niece—who plays such a special role in this mini documentary. Chevy’s innocence, her curiosity, and her pure energy brought so much life to this project.
Another person who’s been key in this story is Karoline Staszczyk. Her timing couldn’t have been more perfect—her arrival in my life coincided with when I started to really connect with owls and nature again, which was a huge turning point for me. Karoline isn’t just a friend; she’s like a breath of fresh air that calms the chaos inside. She’s brought me into the woods, introduced me to horses, and helped me reconnect with that wild, natural part of myself. I’ll never forget how she’s brought peace, love, and playful energy into my life—from childhood sleepovers during elementary school to long talks during high school and even as roommates. Our friendship started in sixth grade, pretty soon after Matt passed away. I remember lending her Matt’s sweater when she was cold—such a little kid moment, but it meant so much. That was a simple act, but it symbolized so much—connection, kindness, and the beginning of a bond that’s lasted years.
My siblings are the heart of my world—you guys know how much I love being your sister. Every single year, when we get together, it’s like a recharge of love, laughter, and memories. We always have the best conversations and inside jokes that keep us grounded and connected. I am so proud of Malec, Jenessa, and William—my little team, my “Four Musketeers,” as we call ourselves in our group chat. They express themselves through art, music, and their words—raw, real, and unfiltered. I’ve always believed in treating them as equals, respecting their feelings and letting them lead, rather than trying to control the situations. That’s what’s helped us stay close and communicate honestly—creating a safe space for us to listen, learn, and support.
William Graham has played a special role of our “uncle Matt,” who passed away too young at 21. The memories we hold of Matt are vivid and precious—countless days spent in the park, playing catch or exploring; special moments like race car outings and Barbie dates that painted a picture of a life filled with joy and innocence.
Our mother, Jenny, is a beacon of authenticity and love. Her personality is vibrant, expressive, deeply heartfelt. She wears her emotions openly—loving each one of us unconditionally.
