Today, February 12, marks my last day working at The Haven.

It’s hard to put into words what these past years have meant to me.

Since 2022, this kitchen has been more than just work. It’s been long days, early mornings, laughter in the prep room, stressful services, problem-solving on the fly, and building something from the ground up with people I truly respect.

To every employee at The Haven — thank you. It was an honour to work beside you. To my staff — you stood with me through everything. I’m proud of what we built together.

And to the Gabriola community… I don’t forget. When the chips were down, you showed up. You supported me, encouraged me, and reminded me why community matters. That kind of support stays in a person’s heart forever.

I believe everything happens for a reason. Chapters close, and new ones begin.

This isn’t goodbye — it’s simply a new path forward.

• Time: Approx. 4 hours or more

• Work: Lifting, carrying, organizing kitchen items

Have a truck?
That’s a bonus pay + gas covered.

Update from Bruno’s Kitchen & Catering

As of now, Bruno’s Kitchen & Catering is no longer operating at The Haven location.

The Haven has been sold, and the new ownership has chosen to go in a different direction. This decision is not personal — it’s simply business.

Our catering services are still fully open and operating across Gabriola Island, Victoria, and beyond. We continue to offer private catering, events, and off-site food services as usual.

We’re grateful for the many years of collaboration and for the support of our community. We look forward to continuing to serve you in new spaces and new ways.

Dear Gabriola Community

We’d like to share a brief update with our Gabriola neighbours and friends.

Since The Haven has been sold to new ownership, our existing catering and kitchen-use contract there is no longer available. As a result, Bruno’s Kitchen & Catering will be concluding our on-site catering operations at The Haven as of February 15, 2026.

This change is about transition, not people or service. We’re truly grateful for the years of collaboration and for the many retreats, programs, and community events we had the honour of cooking for during our time there.

Bruno’s Kitchen & Catering continues to operate fully and will keep providing catering services across Gabriola Island, Victoria, and surrounding areas, working from alternate kitchens and off-site venues.

Thank you to everyone in our community who has supported local food and local business over the years. Your trust means everything to us.
