Do some days feel like a game of Ker-Plunk to you? You know, like if you pull out one more ‘stick’ you feel like you’re going to lose all of your marbles? I pulled out this game to show you how I was feeling. There were a lot of things happening in my world both internally and externally. You know, a thousand things at once and many beyond my control. In other words, overwhelming. At one point I thought one more thing would be like pulling on one of the last sticks.
Which got me thinking….
When there’s only one marble balancing on a stick, is that really the time for me to take on one more project, one more thought, one more task, or one more commitment? Or maybe best to hold off, and not pull that last ‘stick’ out.In those moment when I catch myself I find it’s best to give myself permission to pull back and wait until I’m in a better state. In other words… STOP PULLING OUT STICKS ANNETTE! (for now)
If you in a moment, feeling that way maybe this Ker-Plunk analogy can help you pause, take a breath and just maybe that extra ‘thing’ can wait a bit longer to be done or dealt with.
