Not enough people know this.

Every month, The Jamii Hub offers free arts workshops where neighbours can spend an evening making, singing, dancing, sewing, or sharing coffee together with professional artists.

This September, we’re inviting you to join:

Painting Across Identity and Form with Andrew Patterson a five-part visual arts workshop exploring painting through reflection, experimentation, and personal expression. All materials are provided.

ImPulse: Singing, Rhythm, and Play with Natalie Fasheh, a four-part singing workshop where voice, rhythm, and improvisation create space for play, creativity, and connection.

Whether you’re trying something for the first time or returning to a creative practice, there’s a place for you at The Jamii Hub.

Workshops are free to attend. Registration is now open and required. No experience needed!

We’re so excited to welcome Michael Mortley to WAYO Children’s Festival!

This year, Michael joins Aline Morales to bring movement, rhythm, and play into The Mudlark’s Mother, WAYO’s time-travelling story rooted in The Esplanade’s past.

Together, they’ll take families into the early 1900s, where dance, spoon percussion, and live performance become part of the maze-like festival path.

Michael Mortley brings his work as a dancer, movement artist, storyteller, and educator into this special stop, helping young audiences feel the story through their bodies.

WAYO runs from August 12 to 16 for children under 12 and families. Tickets are $5 and spots are limited. Get yours now at www.jamii.ca/wayo

WAYO began with a simple question in 2020: how can we still bring families close to live art when gathering looks completely different?

For Isorine Marc, WAYO’s Artistic Director, the answer became something intimate, magical, and deeply connected to place.

What started in the heart of the pandemic as small-group artistic experiences grew into the maze-like festival we know today, taking audiences through Berkeley Castle and Berkeley Theatre with live performances along the way.

This August, WAYO returns for its 7th edition with The Mudlark’s Mother, a time-travelling story rooted in The Esplanade’s past and carried through generations.

It’s one of Jamii’s most special festivals, and this year’s edition is not one to miss.

Aline will be joined by Michael Mortley, dancer, movement artist, storyteller, and educator, who will bring dance moves into the moment and help turn this stop into a playful performance kids can feel part of.
