🚨🇬🇭 IÑAKI WILLIAMS SAYS GOODBYE TO THE BLACK STARS

From Bilbao to Kumasi. From Spain to Ghana. From a childhood connection to wearing the Black Stars shirt on the biggest stage.

Iñaki Williams has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing an emotional end to his Ghana journey. 🇬🇭💔

In 2022, Williams chose to represent the country of his parents and made the decision to switch from Spain to Ghana.

He went on to represent the Black Stars at two FIFA World Cups and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, making 28 appearances for Ghana.
It wasn't always an easy journey.

There were goals, missed chances, criticism, unforgettable moments and the pressure that comes with wearing the Black Stars shirt.
But through it all, Iñaki remained connected to Ghana.

Now, at 32, he walks away from international football saying he is happy and proud of what he accomplished.

The chapter closes.
But the Ghanaian connection will never disappear. 🇬🇭❤️

Does Eddie Nketiah need Ghana more than Ghana needs Nketiah?”

I’d say yes, at this stage, Nketiah probably needs Ghana more.

Ghana gives him a realistic international pathway.

🇬🇭 Nketiah has previously said he is open to Ghana.

Nketiah even watched Ghana’s World Cup opener against Panama in Toronto 👀🇬🇭 adding more fuel to the speculation.

The Crystal Palace striker’s father has confirmed that Ghana’s Sports Ministry has approached the England international over a possible switch to the Black Stars.

He remains eligible for Ghana.
Nketiah played for England against Australia in a 2023 friendly, but that appearance does not prevent him from switching to Ghana under the applicable FIFA eligibility rules.

there is currently no official confirmation that Nketiah has submitted/completed a change of association or committed to the Black Stars.

My N⭕️.1 take
Ghana doesn’t need Eddie Nketiah. Eddie Nketiah needs Ghana, if he wants a serious international career.

But at 27, with only one England senior appearance and no place in England’s World Cup squad, Ghana could give him something England currently isn’t giving him: a genuine route to becoming an international regular.

is reportedly set to join the Championship side as a free agent, following the collapse of talks with Blackburn Rovers.
