With custom design, a wedding dress isn’t just a dress.
The complexity of design is sometimes so subtle that it becomes invisible, yet creates a magical effect.
Tanya’s wedding gown is one of those pieces that look effortlessly simple without being obviously “designed”.

Cut: Not only a small flared mermaid, it was seamed flatteringly to create shape and form. The angle of the halter was minutely adjusted to make the wearer delicate yet strong. The low back just low enough to be open yet not scandalous.

Fabric: When is a lace dress not just a lace wedding dress? When there are six layers to create the perfect amount of transparency and texture. Varying shades and types of tulle, chosen to highlight the brides skin tone. Two layers of super fine and beaded Chantilly lace for texture and subtle glamour.

Details: A hand sewn lace trim hem and neckline, exquisite handmade chain pearls created retro glamour.

Our mermaid on the beach and in the forest.
This west coast wedding was the perfect location for our bride who had a strong vision for her dramatic wedding dress.
I loved designing and creating this red carpet worthy gown, miles of ombré blue ruffles and pale grey Chantilly lace are what you see. What you don’t see is the layers of blue, grey, lavender and n**e tulle layered to create the perfect moody sea side hue. The hours of hand beading and appliqué all over the lace to resemble a sea shore.

Pride and Prejudice is relaunching on BBC for a new generation of Jane Austen fans and I’m starting to see the subtle influence on custom bridal design.

This “jeune fille” wedding dress looks sweet but was accessorized in a very sophisticated fashion.

Made from a new fabric in the atelier, that actually is an old fabric also relaunched, my current favourite Mikado Shantung. A grown up version of raw silk, with texture but a smoother finish and more formal appearance.

The dreamiest photoshoot in the English countryside 🩵

It’s no secret that I’m an Anglophile, and when Kim and Gary Evans | Photographers • Educators • Entrepreneurs asked me provide gowns for their photo workshop at Hinwick House I didn’t hesitate. In fact, I tried to get into the suitcase!

All my UK photo shoot dreams came true, featuring the blue and white satin Swan gown and a delicate blue veil from Blair Nadeau Bridal | Canadian Made Wedding Veils & Accessories . It was a Bridgerton moment.

Did you watch the Emmy awards last night?

Forget the red carpet fashion, this gown we created for our mermaid bride could be worn at the Met gala!
With yards and yards of ruffled ombré blue tulle, layered grey Chantilly lace and shades of the sea tulle all pulled together with the most amazing beaded lace. Hand sewn applique floats over the gown.
To me, the beaded pearl lace looks like starfish and sea pearls, perfect for a mermaid emerging from the ocean.
