For almost two decades, it has been an incredible privilege and honour to serve as the Event Planner for The University of the West Indies Gala.

Each year, this event reminds me why this work matters so deeply — creating opportunities for students who are financially disadvantaged and helping open doors to education, possibility, and purpose.

This year’s theme, Unlocking Brilliance, truly brought everything full circle. It was a powerful celebration of resilience, excellence, and the extraordinary potential that exists within every student when they are given the opportunity to thrive.

My heartfelt congratulations to all of this year’s remarkable honourees. Your leadership, achievements, and commitment to community continue to inspire us all.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey over the years. Together, we continue to change lives through education, hope, and opportunity.

Drawing from his great-grandfather Nelson Mandela’s pursuit of a law degree, he shared insights that continue to shape conversations around human rights and conflict resolution today.
