Things brides often forget to ask venues when requesting quotes

When you’re emailing venues, it’s easy to only focus on the base price - but these details can make a big difference in your final budget and stress level.

~What's included in the rental fee? (Chairs, tables, linens, setup/teardown, staff?)
~How many hours are included? (Is extra time available, and what does it cost?)
~What are the payment terms? (Deposit amount, due dates, and refund policy)
~Are there preferred or required vendors? (This can affect catering, bar service, and overall cost)
~Is there a service charge or gratuity added? (Sometimes this isn’t obvious in the initial quote)
~What’s the backup plan for weather? (Especially important for outdoor or partially outdoor venues)
~When do vendors get access for setup? (This impacts your timeline and vendor costs)
~What restrictions should we know about? (Music cutoffs, decor rules, candle use, alcohol policies, ect.)

This is just a starting point - there are several other questions that can help you avoid surprise costs and timeline issues later on.

If you’d like the full venue question checklist or want help drafting emails and comparing quotes, feel free to message me

How to politely follow up with vendors who haven’t replied

If you’ve emailed a vendor and haven’t heard back, you’re not annoying by following up - emails get missed all the time.

Here’s a simple, polite way to check in:

Hi (Name),
I just wanted to follow up on my message from (date) regarding availability and pricing for our wedding on (date).

We’re currently reviewing options and would love to know if you’re available.

Thank you so much,
(Your name)

A few helpful tips:
Wait 5-7 business days before following up
Keep it short and friendly
Avoid apologizing - you’re not doing anything wrong
One follow-up is usually enough

If you don’t hear back after that, it’s okay to move on - responsiveness now often reflects what communications will be like later.

I have additional follow-up wording and a full vendor email checklist that I share with clients.
If you’d like help drafting emails or managing vendor communication, feel free to message me.
