Lobster Trap Christmas Tree - Saint Andrews, New Brunswick

Lobster Trap Christmas Tree - Saint Andrews, New Brunswick A Christmas tree created annually in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada to raise monies for local food banks during the holiday season.

03/17/2026

Took a bit to get reorganized from Christmas, etc this year, so we have been late with the totals raised for the food bank.

Indulge Food & Wine made a larger then normal donation this year via the Lobster Trap Tree, so we are proud to say the total this year donated to the Saint St. Andrews and Area Open Door Program via this yearly fundraiser was:

$31 395.00

A huge number for the food bank this year and I am sure it was put to good use.

Thanks again for everyone who takes part each year in Indulge Food & Wine, to our sponsors, and to the dedicated group of people who sponsor the buoys, paint new buoys, and to all of the volunteers who help each year to put up and take down the tree each year.

Thanks to Hunstman Marine also for letting us use the building each year to store the buoys close at hand to the tree. We never got around to taking them back out until March this year and we appreciate the extended use of the building.

Well the Lobster Tree is up and we are still adding buoys. Yes you can still purchase new buoys at The Herring or sponsor an old buoy and we will get it on the tree for you. Around 400 people we estimate this year - the largest group we have ever seen at the lighting.

Big shout out to all of the volunteers, Allisan Bailey Spear for coordinating the traps to get them in the square and putting the tree together, and everyone who took their time to get the traps in and put the tree up. Volunteers also took time to put on the lights and also showed up to get the majority of the buoys on the tree.

Thanks to Craig Tweedie for making the scale lighthouse of Pendlebury Lighthouse - right here in Saint Andrews. He donated the materials and his time....and we have something big to announce for 2026 in regards to Pendlebury Lighthouse (it was Craigs idea and it is amazing - stay tuned).

Thanks goes out to Cooke's, who for the last 3 years, has paid for the new buoys that we sell to put on the tree.

Thanks to the town crew for the great job they do decorating out town, square, wharf, and town office - hats off to you for the work done. The great new Candy Cane switch to turn on the lights was a hit.

Thanks to Johnston Haynes for doing the music each year leading up to and after the lighting.

Thanks to the Christmas Committee for organizing the events around the tree lighting weekend and for the weekends to come - I am sure the town will be busy. It was great to have the Carolers out again this year and we shall figure out how to mic them better for next year.

The picture attached is Vicki Hogarth, after the tree was put up but before the lighting. Thanks for the pic Vicki.

Again - thanks to everyone - to many to list. The tree lighting

It is that time of year again - the Lobster Trap Christmas Tree for Saint Andrews. BUOYS GO ON SALE TODAY - NOVEMBER 10.....at The Herring on Water Street in Saint Andrews.

All monies raised go to the Saint Andrews Open Door Program, as well as donations to the St. Stephen and St. George Food Banks.

Since the inception/idea of doing the Lobster Trap Tree in Saint Andrews, we have raised $76 501.00 for Food Banks at Christmas....wow...a great amount and all thanks to the people who purchase and sponsor old buoys.

We will be setting the tree up on Tuesday, November 25 @ 11 am with the lighting November 28 at 5:30 pm.

Emailed monies can be sent to [email protected] - the same as every other year - stating what it is for, etc.

Come on in a grab a new buoy for $30.00 each or sponsor an old buoy.

We have approached Cooks Inc. to help sponsor our buoys again this year, and I am sure they will help out. So big shout out to Cookes Aquaculture in helping us raise monies for those in need in Charlotte County.

Our poster inspiration that we have used over the past number of years comes from a painting done of the tree in 2022 by Jessi Smith. She did the painting of the tree for us to sell tickets on while By-the-Sea Framing donated the framing for us. We sometimes forget the help we have received in the past and would like to thank each of them for helping us raise the funds needed.

We also have had special buoys painted the past couple of years by Jeff Ingalls. We did not get any done this year but hope to be back at it next year.

So stop on down to the pub starting at 12 pm - November 10 - grab your buoy, paint it up with the kids, and bring it back to the pub. We will be putting buoys on right until Christmas - so you have lots of time to paint one or sponsor one.
