📍 Another new restaurant is coming to Regina.

Chuck’s Roadhouse is opening in the former Applebee’s location on Quance Street.

The Ontario-based chain has become known for serving steakhouse favourites at prices that are hard to beat. Their slogan says it all:

“Food the way it ought to be, priced the way it used to be.”

The menu features AAA steaks aged at least 28 days, burgers, wings, ribs, and even steak & lobster specials.

Could Regina finally say goodbye to the Ring Road train crossings?
If you’ve ever been stuck waiting for a freight train on Ring Road, you’ll know why this project keeps coming up.
The City says preliminary design work is now substantially complete on a proposal to relocate both the CPKC and CN rail lines away from Ring Road in northeast Regina.
The idea has actually been around for years. Council first directed administration to study the issue back in 2018, and a feasibility study ultimately recommended moving the rail lines rather than building overpasses or underpasses.
Nothing has been approved yet, but the project continues to move forward behind the scenes. The estimated cost sits somewhere between $150 million and $300 million, and City Administration says the next step is bringing a report to Council once discussions with both railways are complete.
Even if approved, construction would still be years away.

🎬 One movie. One format. One of the rarest places in the world to see it.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey isn’t just another blockbuster. It’s the first feature film ever shot entirely with IMAX cameras, and Regina happens to be one of the few places on Earth where you’ll be able to experience it the way it was made to be seen.

Here’s why it’s such a big deal:

🎥 First of its kind
The Odyssey is the first feature film shot entirely in IMAX.

🎞️ 2.1 million feet of film
That’s roughly 640 kilometres (380 miles) of IMAX 65mm film.

💰 $3 million in film stock
The raw film alone reportedly cost around $3 million.

⏱️ Only 3 minutes at a time
Each IMAX film magazine holds about three minutes of footage before crews have to stop and reload the camera.

⚖️ 846-pound film print
The finished 70mm print weighs approximately 846 pounds.

Howdy, Regina. 🤠

This weekend is packed, and somehow it all feels very normal for a Regina summer.

Country Thunder is taking over Craven from July 9–12, so if your group chat has been talking about “maybe going for one day,” this is probably your sign to figure it out.

The Riders are back in action against Hamilton after doing what they do best last week: making sure nobody relaxed until the final minute.

The Regina Red Sox are also at Currie Field this weekend, with Okotoks in town Sunday afternoon if you want a little summer baseball.

Canada is still dancing. 🇨🇦⚽

This Saturday, Canada takes on Morocco in the Round of 16, with kickoff set for 11 AM Regina time.

And honestly? This is the kind of moment Regina shows up for.

Canada playing knockout soccer on the world stage is not an everyday thing. It’s one of those “remember where you watched it” moments, and there are a few local spots in Regina ready for the noise.

We rounded up 3 places to watch the match with a crowd, a pint, and a room full of people riding every pass, miss, save, and chance.

🇨🇦 Regina, your Canada Day plans are basically handled.

If you’re trying to figure out what to do, where to go, what’s open, and when the fireworks start, here’s the quick version.

The main celebration is at Wascana Centre on July 1, with food trucks, markets, family activities, Riderville, live music, a beer garden, and fireworks to end the night.

A few things to know:

🥞 Pancake Breakfast: 8:30 AM
🛍️ Food Trucks + Market: 10 AM to 10 PM
🎤 Opening Ceremonies: Noon
🎆 Fireworks: 10:30 PM

Bringing the kids? There’s lots happening too, including the RPL Family Fun Zone, free activities at Government House, and family fun at the RCMP Heritage Centre.

And yes, we included the practical stuff too.

Waste collection is running on the regular schedule, paid parking zones are free, transit is on a Sunday schedule, and outdoor pools are open.

Save this one before tomorrow. It’ll come in handy.
