Brandt Sports & Entertainment has revealed new details about Queen City Distillers, an ambitious entertainment, dining and nightlife destination planned for Regina’s REAL District.

The project is expected to cost at least $70 million, create more than 200 jobs and bring six different experiences together under one roof.

Here’s what’s planned 👇

🎸 THE JACK
A two-storey, 1,550-seat live music venue named after Saskatchewan musician Jack Semple. Plans include private boxes, advanced concert technology and a recording studio.

🍝 BELLATERRA
An Italian restaurant featuring Saskatchewan ingredients, made-from-scratch dishes and a 60-seat patio. The kitchen will be overseen by a chef trained by Gordon Ramsay.

🏈 THE DRAFT ROOM
A sports bar designed for Riders fans, hockey nights and pre-game gatherings, complete with a smaller performance stage and patio space.

🎶 THE LAST NOTE
An intimate, late-night speakeasy showcasing local musicians and emerging talent.

🍷 THE VAULT
A w**e and cocktail lounge featuring curated w**es, craft cocktails and small plates.

🥂 LEGACY W**E & SPIRITS
A liquor retail experience featuring a drive-through.

When will it open?

The project is targeting completion in spring 2027, but there’s still an important hurdle.

Brandt’s agreement to acquire several REAL District buildings from the City of Regina has not yet been finalized. Owner Shaun Semple says the deal needs to close before the end of 2026 for the project to move forward.

If everything comes together, this could bring a major new entertainment destination to Regina.

Should Regina’s elected officials have to show us what they’ve actually accomplished?

Prime Minister Mark Carney has been pushing his federal cabinet to focus on measurable results… asking ministers to demonstrate progress on government priorities, what has been delivered and where work still needs to be done. The federal government’s own reporting system also tracks priorities, expected results and progress against them.

It raises an interesting question closer to home:

Should Regina City Council be expected to do the same?

Imagine a simple, easy-to-read public update from Regina’s mayor and each city councillor showing:

What they promised.
What they worked on.
What they actually completed.
What’s still unfinished.
What measurable progress was made.

Not a political scorecard. Not about whether you like or dislike a particular councillor.

Just a clearer way for Regina residents to see what their elected officials are accomplishing with their time in office.

With major conversations happening around housing, property taxes, infrastructure, roads, public safety, downtown Regina and the city budget, should residents have an easier way to track the progress of Regina City Council?

Friday night at Mosaic Stadium starts with the halftime show.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ Lights Out: Electric Powwow game will feature an Electric Powwow showcase at halftime, plus the Riders wearing their Indigenous logo.

Then there are 2 big things to watch on the field:

1. Saskatchewan can clinch a playoff spot.
A Riders win over the Calgary Stampeders guarantees Saskatchewan a spot in the CFL playoffs.

2. KeeSean Johnson is chasing Riders history.
Johnson enters Friday with 95 catches. Five more would make him just the fifth Saskatchewan Roughrider to record 100 receptions in a season.

BRETT LAUTHER IS BACK IN RIDERVILLE 🟢⚪️
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have reacquired veteran kicker Brett Lauther from Ottawa in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2027 CFL Draft.
And he’s coming back in pretty good form.
Lauther has hit 32 of 34 field goals this season…. a 94.1% success rate…. including all three attempts from beyond 50 yards.
He spent eight seasons in Saskatchewan, played in 114 regular-season games and was part of the Riders’ 2025 Grey Cup championship team.
He also went a perfect 10-for-10 on game-winning field goal attempts during his time in green and white.
Now he’s back for the stretch run.

Could Regina be home to Canada’s next national museum? 🇨🇦
The RCMP Heritage Centre is making another push to officially become a National Museum of Canada — right here in Regina.
The Centre is hoping to collect 20,000 signatures from across Canada before representatives head to Ottawa for meetings in early October.
And the campaign is already gaining some momentum — nearly 3,000 people signed in roughly the first 10 days.
This has actually been years in the making. The process dates back to a federal mandate in 2019, with funding toward the project coming through federal budgets in the years since.
The Heritage Centre currently operates as an independent non-profit and is not owned, operated or funded by the RCMP. Becoming a national museum would allow it to expand how it tells the story of the RCMP — including its role in Canadian history, its relationship with communities across the country, difficult parts of that history, and reconciliation.
And there appears to be support for the idea.
A 2022 survey of more than 6,400 Canadians found 91% considered having a national RCMP museum in Regina important or very important.

The concert is being credited with an estimated $10 million impact on Regina’s economy, with spending flowing into hotels, restaurants, transportation, and local businesses. Regina’s roughly 3,200 hotel rooms were also sold out, showing just how big of a draw this show was.

Big concerts do more than fill seats. They bring people into the city, put money into local businesses, and show that Regina can host major events in a big way.

Bell Canada has announced plans for a major expansion of its AI data centre project in the RM of Sherwood, just outside Regina.

The project was originally planned as a 300 MW facility. Bell now says it could expand to as much as 1.2 GW and become the headquarters for Bell AI Fabric.

The proposed expansion is expected to represent more than $50 billion in capital investment.

According to the province, the expanded project could support up to 500 permanent jobs in data centre operations and power generation, around 3,000 additional jobs in areas like security, logistics and maintenance, and approximately 100 management positions.

The original 300 MW portion is expected to draw power from Saskatchewan’s provincial grid. Bell says the additional capacity would be supported by new natural gas generation developed by an operating partner.

The project is still expected to be developed in phases and remains subject to customer commitments, commercial agreements, permits and approvals.

More than 100 mm of rain fell in Regina over the long weekend, leaving streets, sidewalks and low-lying areas around the city covered in water. 🌧️
According to volunteer weather observers, Regina recorded 100.8 mm, while Weyburn saw 106.9 mm and Last Mountain Lake recorded 103.9 mm.
Environment Canada says a strong, slow-moving low-pressure system packed with moisture helped produce the heavy rainfall across southern Saskatchewan.
Regina should get a bit of a break from the rain before another system moves through the province later this week.

September is stacked 👀

If you’re staying in Regina for Labour Day weekend, there’s lots going on. The Labour Day Classic is back at Mosaic, The Courts are doing food, drinks, music and games all weekend, and the Show N Shine has 500+ classic cars on Monday.

Then things really get going.

🏃 Queen City Marathon weekend takes over Regina Sept. 11–13.

🌽 Corn maze season is starting, so Happy Hollow near Lumsden is an easy excuse to get out of the city.

🎮 Saskatchewan Retro GameCon is happening in Moose Jaw Sept. 12–13.

🏈 And for the truly brave… you can head to Winnipeg for Banjo Bowl and venture behind enemy lines. Wear green. Stay alert. Bring ear plugs. 😂

And then there’s the big one…

🎸 FOO FIGHTERS at Mosaic Stadium on Sept. 15.

Foo Fighters. Queens of the Stone Age. Mannequin P***y.

Mosaic’s first major concert in years and, unless something absolutely wild gets announced, this has a pretty good shot at being Regina’s concert of the year.

Basically, September is one of those months where saying “there’s nothing to do in Regina” is going to be a tough argument.

Save this for later and send it to the friend who always asks “what should we do this weekend?”
