Belén Waterfall is a hidden gem just a short drive from Playa Sámara in Costa Rica. Tucked into lush tropical forest, it cascades into a clear, inviting pool—perfect for a refreshing swim. The surrounding scenery and the gentle murmur of the river create a peaceful escape, while the short hike to reach it adds a touch of adventure. This serene spot is ideal for relaxing, enjoying nature, and soaking in the beauty of Guanacaste’s Nicoya Peninsula—one of the world’s famous Blue Zones.
Relatively undiscovered by most tourists, Belén Waterfall feels even more special. It’s cherished by locals and adventurous travelers alike, offering a tranquil retreat away from the crowds.
The falls sit on private land owned by locals, with a designated parking area that is attended at all times. A parking attendant charges $1 USD per person, and while there aren’t set hours, there is usually someone present to watch over vehicles.
Safety Notice: Belén Falls is not safe to visit during the rainy season. Strong undercurrents can be dangerous, and there have been reports of drownings during periods of heavy rain. Please plan your visit accordingly.
