BIG WRECK: THREE DECADES OF CANADIAN ROCK, AND STILL MOVING FORWARD
Led by Toronto singer, songwriter and guitarist Ian Thornley, Big Wreck have built one of the most distinctive catalogues in Canadian rock. The band first came together while Thornley and his original bandmates were studying at Berklee College of Music, breaking through with their 1997 debut In Loving Memory Of…. The record produced enduring rock-radio favourites “The Oaf,” “That Song” and “Blown Wide Open,” all of which went platinum in Canada.
After reuniting in the early 2010s, Big Wreck returned with “Albatross,” their first No. 1 at Canadian rock radio, followed by the platinum-selling album of the same name. More than a decade later, they remain firmly in the conversation: Pages earned a 2025 The JUNO Awards nomination for Rock Album of the Year, and the band was selected as Record Store Day Canada’s 2025 Canadian Ambassador.
Their latest album, The Rest of the Story, arrived in October 2025 and has already produced Top 5 radio singles “Believer” and “Dog With A Gun.” Big Wreck plays The Arena at Pickering Casino Resort on October 29, 2026.
