Good day Friends & Fam,
As many of you know, I’ve been hosting and DJing events for years.
Before I started playing music, my go-to genres were Soca and Motown / R&B.
Being the son of two incredible and caring Grenadian 🇬🇩 parents, growing up in Toronto and later Kingston, that was the soundtrack to my early childhood, shared with my sisters and cousins, full of warmth, culture and love.
Eventually, ’70s soul, disco, and ’80s pop entered the mix, followed by a deep love (and dive) into House (the good stuff) and Hip Hop.
Fast forward to now, and my musical taste is still like a really good gumbo, a little bit of everything delicious thrown into one pot. My sets reflect that. If it makes me feel good, it gets played.
That passion for mixing things up has taken over how I play today. I need to feel connected when I hit the decks, which is why I’ve scaled back on outside bookings and focused on creating and curating my own events and brands.
At one point, I even considered hanging up the headphones for good. I had lost all interest in this beautiful art form called DJing, the very craft that had given me so much and continues to open doors and possibilities for me, even all these years later.
But during COVID, I made a decision: if I’m going to play, it has to be for the right function, the right vibe. And guess what? The love is back, and I’m ready to share it.
The best part is, I know I’m not alone. My friends, my family, my supporters, you’ve always appreciated a wide spectrum of good music. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with events that blend it all:
R&B, Future Soul, House, Afro, Amapiano, Edits, Rare Grooves, Funk, Disco, Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Slow Jams, Old School, Throwbacks, Baile Funk, Jungle, ’70s to 2000s and beyond.
That’s the true essence of a great party, and a damn good DJ.
So why am I saying all this?
Because after years of trying to separate my events, cater to different crowds, and please niche markets, I’ve decided it’s time to fully embrace what I’ve been building all along.
No more hiding behind the scenes.
I’m finally launching the entertainment company I’ve always wanted, a brand that’s a true reflection of who I am and what I love.
