What is funky?
We're not talking about George Clinton or the smell wafting from your hockey bag.
In the coffee world, funky is often used to describe a coffee's taste profile after it has undergone a process that pumps up the fermentation, like a natural anaerobic process (where the coffee seeds are left in their cherry and fermented in tanks with no or limited oxygen levels).
So a coffee that is really fruity, maybe even with some boozy/winey notes. Like our Funky Fruits line.
We find it's a taste profile that at first may really confront your notion of what coffee should taste like, but it may start to quickly grow on you. And you may even start chasing that flavour high of those fruity, boozy notes. It can be a real Pandora's box when opened!
In addition to some of our current black label coffees, we have two wild coffees coming out at the end of next week in collaboration with another micro roaster, that are really impressive and uniquely funky!
