Hello everyone.
With new level of restrictions we are now allowed about 60 people inside. They must be seated and stay 6 feet apart.
This goes against the very reason for this place so we will be remaining closed.
Sorry, see you in the fall maybe.
More silliness at The Geneva
Even when we are closed we are still part of the community.

Somniatis organizer came up with idea to bring attention to businesses that support the fundraiser; 'The community supporting the community is the best thing we can do'
The Geneva Event Centre cleared the first hurdle in the major refurbishment of the building's façade.
The goal has always been to recreate the 1939 look with modern technology. The Downtown Management Board met and approved the new marquee so we are one step closer to the goal.
Next stop Committee of adjustments for a sign bylaw variance. Hopefully things are not shut down for too long over this covid so we can get the face finished up by summer's end.
Big news from Geneva.
Kidding, no news. Just bored.
Pandemic is having a huge impact on shuttered local venues
'While we are saddened by the devastating health and economic impact to Orillia ... we are happy to be doing a small part in slowing the spread of this virus'

So much fun we should do it again.
It is with great honour and pride that I announce....................
WE HIT OUR TARGET AND THEN SOME!!!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone that donated through Facebook, cash donations, etransfers, etc.
Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket to last night’s Bleeker, Trucker, and Webster concert. Especially those of you that procrastinated just long enough and had to pay $15 at the door. You hold a very special place in my heart.
A special thanks to the sponsors of the radio ticket giveaways: Speedy Auto Glass, Brewery Bay, Rustica Pizza Vino, and Refillery District. Shop local folks because local businesses give back to the community.
Big ups to Gilbert Guitars and AlleyCats for selling tickets for the passed few months. The Pushers that they are.
BellMedia for the mentions throughout the months on the Dock and Pure Country.
Don Porter for not only donating the Geneva Event Centre but for posting the challenge to match anyone who puts up $500.
Jeff Marshalton of Lake Country Animal Hospital for rising to the challenge and donated $500. Thank you both for your generous donations.
A HUGE THANK YOU to 89.1 MAX FM (Orillia’s local Alternative Rock Station). Your support and help with advertising and spreading the word was tremendous and helped our cause so much!!!! It wouldn’t have been such a big success without your help.
The fellas at greenhat. studio........... without you guys organizing and coordinating and whatnot, last night would have been near to impossible.
BLEEKER!!!!! Holy hell thank you for such a great show and all of your hard work! Thank you for donating your time!!
Trucker boys!!!!!! Couldn’t have done it without you.
Danny Webster!!!!! Great show and thank you for donating your time and coming back home from the big smoke Toronto!!! Much appreciated.
Denver Mike Brandon!!!!!! Best sound guy in SIMCOE County!!!!!! Sounded great. Nothing but praises for your hard work and expertise. You the real star brother.
Dougy Shakell for rocking the lights the way you do!!! Always a good show. Made everyone look good up on that stage.
Katie Taylor for working the door right up to the very last ticket was sold and looking good while doing it. You’re amazing thank you very much. Robbie McQuillan and Alicia Sweeney for rocking the Merch Table ALL NIGHT!!!!! You guys rocked all night.
Because Strings For Students was such a big success this year, we’re donating all of the surplus funds raised to the greenhat. fundraiser which supports the Harriet Todd Public School Music Program.
Everybody involved with Strings For Students and last nights concert are firm believers in keeping music in schools and in the hearts of children. Music teaches kids life skills. Patients - you’re not going to know how to play an instrument or sing like a professional until you put the time in. Hard work ethic - you’re only going to become great player or singer if you work for it. To name only a few.
Music also teaches kids how to deal with their emotions (how to deal with them and how to express them) - Music can make you laugh, make you cry, make you smile, make you mad, etc. All are very healthy emotions and need an outlet. A lot of kids out there don’t know how to deal with those yet. No matter what the emotion, there is always a place for it in music.
These are just a few skills that are taught through music and curve everyone and how they will grow into adults.
Keep music in our schools.

New Years Eve Announcement!!!
We at the Geneva Event Centre are sad to say we will not be hosting a NYE Bash. Given the taxi situation in Orillia (or lack of) and the lack of parking after midnight we decided against an event. People have been complaining a lot lately they can't get a taxi to the downtown without an hour wait and going home at 2am is a 2hr wait on normal weekends. We don't want people to risk driving home with no parking downtown. We believe this this is the best solution. Last year we let people stand in our lobby out of the cold till after 4am waiting on taxi's.
We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very safe and Happy New Year.
The Geneva is looking to do a female band night for an upcoming women's fundraiser. Please contact John or I if you would like to be part of it.

Be sure to check out My Son The Hurricane on Friday October 12th at the Geneva Event Centre. This band will surely sell out the venue in advance, so grab a ticket now online at www.OrilliaJazzFestival.com
Can hardly wait
Meet a member Monday:
Our most asked about member is Sylvie Kindree. Sylvie joined the Hurricane crew three years ago after an impromptu performance together. She lives in Owen Sound with her husband Mike (who has co-written some of Hurricane’s songs) and her dog Phoebit. She’s the most educated of the Hurricane crew with a masters degree and regularly inspires a lot of young women out on the road. She’s a crusader for Indigenous
rights and is Danno’s business partner. She owns a few dresses. This is Sylvie.
I can't wait for them to get here. We even have a surprise.
Meet a Member Monday:
Victoria is our Baritone sax player. Yes...we know the sax is almost as big as her...She’s got big time dance moves and gets really grumpy when Danno won’t stop the van for food. Originally from Waterdown, Ontario she has two great dogs who should really be touring with the band. We love having Vic on the road with us dancing beside Sylvie each night. This is Victoria
