Kwe everyone,

On behalf of Nibwakawin, we would truly like to thank every school, community member, invited guest, dancer, drummer, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who came out to celebrate our Pow Wow on Friday. Your presence helped make the day incredibly special, and we are so grateful to everyone who joined us.

We would also like to give a few special shout-outs, as this event would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication.

Firstly, Jayda McMartin. Jayda is only in Grade 10, yet she takes on huge responsibilities without ever settling for low expectations. She is an amazing leader who continuously demonstrates her strengths, determination, and commitment. She never stops impressing us, and we are so proud of everything she has accomplished.

Secondly, Emmy Kearney. Right alongside Jayda, Emmy continues to show what leadership, dedication, and passion look like. As a graduating student this year, she has set an incredible example for others to follow. We have no doubt that she will continue to shine and achieve great things in the future.

Thirdly, Esther Wabie. Esther, our Indigenous Lead, has been an incredible source of support throughout the entire planning process. Despite the many challenges and busy moments that come with organizing a Pow Wow, she always makes time to support students and ensure that culture remains at the heart of everything we do. We greatly appreciate all the hard work she puts into supporting Indigenous youth and helping make events like this possible.

Fourthly, Alex Shillinglaw. As our Land-Based Learning Teacher, Alex has been an incredible support throughout the entire Pow Wow planning process. From gathering medicines and organizing volunteers to helping wherever he could and ensuring everything was prepared, Alex played a significant role in making the event a success. His dedication, hard work, and willingness to step in whenever needed did not go unnoticed. We are extremely grateful for the time, effort, and knowledge he shared to help make this year's Pow Wow possible.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of our volunteers. Whether you were a student, teacher, staff member, community member, or someone who simply wanted to lend a helping hand, we appreciate each and every one of you. Your support helped the event run smoothly, and we want you to know how much your efforts meant to us. The success of this Pow Wow was truly a team effort.

This year's Pow Wow was an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, healing, learning, connection, and celebration. There were many emotions throughout the day as people came together, supported one another, and celebrated culture. We know this year has not been easy for many people, which made seeing everyone gather in such a positive way even more meaningful.

As we begin planning for next year's Pow Wow, we would love to hear your thoughts. We are always looking for ways to improve and make the experience even better for everyone.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey below. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help guide our planning for next year.

Chi-miigwetch once again to everyone who attended, supported, volunteered, performed, and helped make this year's Pow Wow such an incredible success. We are so grateful for the amazing turnout and community spirit that was shared throughout the day.

A special thank you as well to Jaymee's Photography (Jaymee Cheff-Wabie), one of our students here at TDSS, for capturing all the important moments of the day. Your work helped preserve the memories of this special event, and we truly appreciate it.

Until next year!
